Brosnan wanted a serious bond? ;D It just doesn't work right for him :'(

If you really think Pierce is a comic actor, you really need to watch Evelyn.

I used to be quite critical of DAD and still consider it to be poor in comparison to the better Bond films. That said, I watched the film recently and enjoyed It far more than I thought I should. The PTS is good and Brosnan is in fine form.

DAD has some classic Bondian moments and I gave it an 8 out of 10.

How would you make DAD better, Lord Vader? And what would you replace the para-surfing scene with?

They could have just scrapped the CGI scene altogether.

I was amazed that some idiot in the effects dept thought that scene was fine to put in the finished film.

Seven. Some of the dialogue is awful but the film is at least entertaining at times.

They should have thrown out the freefall scene in Quantum of Shite too.

The QOS freefall was worse. The Die Another day surfing looked worse but was a better idea. It's just that QOS was made 6 years later and had better CGI technology to use.

Hello,

Ah, yes. 'Die Another Day'. I was like a little kid standing in line at the local multiplex dying to see the 20th installment in the James Bond franchise...with my then girlfriend at the time.

I was excited because it was 007's 40th annivesary on the big screen, so I knew they'd be pulling out the stops, plus it had been 3 long years since the last one and I was getting to see my man Pierce don the tux once again!

I have to say...the pre-titles sequence was awesome, especially Bond's capture and torture. I love Brosnan's scene with John Cleese as the 'Quartermaster' with all kinds of gadgets from the previous Bond movies on display in the background.

I like when Pierce was in Cuba and picks up 'Birds Of The West Indies' by James Bond (where Fleming picked up our hero's name)
Halle Barry's tribute to Ursula Andress, ect. I also like the fencing match between 007 and Toby (Gustov Graves) Stephens.

Unfortunately...'Die Another Day' isn't as good in the second half as we head to Graves' "Ice Palace". For me , the movie starts to plod along and gets a wee bit too 'over the top'. I cringed when Halle 'Jinx' Berry is captured by Gustov's goons...her dialougue is so ridiculous it made some of her lines in 'Catwoman' sound like Shakespere!

Despite all this...IMO Pierce Brosnan makes it all work...he always did. And I was dying to see him in his upcoming fifth and probably last outing as our favorite suave, dangerous British Secret Agent with a Licence To Kill.

Boy, was I about to have the rug pulled out from under me! :o

"Die Another Day": 8/10 for pour moi.

Take Care!

Barbara had that carpet whipped away quicker than you could say George Lazenby.

I was excited about a new Bond actor in 2005 until they dropped the DC bombshell.
