Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Which James Bond DVDs do you prefer? Special Edition vs Ultimate Edition.

I'm not sure. Which do you prefer FBF?
Some of the later UE art was quite poor.

I've got the Ultimate Editions. The documentaries are good. Patrick Macnee narrates them.

Hello,
The James Bond Special Editions had far superior and more beautiful packaging and artwork.
However, as one who shelled out big bucks for both the 'Special Edition' and 'Ultimate Edition' volumes of the James Bond movies...I'm going to lean toward the Ultimate Editions.
The main reason for this is the painstakingly long process they put all 20 films through to remove any grain, dirt, scratches, hair, one frame at a time from the all the films' original negatives. The colors are brilliant and the prints look brand new. 'Goldfinger' looks like it was filmed yesterday.
Also, the audio mix of the Ultimate Editions is second to none. Provided you have home theater sound, You can watch all 20 movies with DTS (Digital Theater Sound) or 5.1 audio.
Nostalgia buffs also have the option of watching the older movies with their original stereo 2 channel mix.
The second 'Bond Archive' bonus discs include all the extras from the 'Special Edition Bonds' plus much more archival footage that's never before been seen.
The other real special treat is all seven of the Roger Moore films feature commentary tracks recorded by Sir Roger himself! His commentary is full of fun anecdotes, facts, and fond memories. Sir Roger is his usual witty, funny, and most entertaining self. It's amazing how this man can recall facts from almost 40 years ago as if they happened yesterday.
Finally, the on-screen menus of the movie discs and bonus discs are absolutely fantastic...themed and musically scored to tailor fit each individual Bond entry.
Having said all of this...and having owned both - you really can't go wrong with either one. If I had to pick one, however, I'd say the 'Ultimate Editions' for all the reasons mentioned above.
Take Care!

I have the Ultimate Editions from Dr No to Die Another Day and they are great but that's it for me. I'm not giving Barbara Broccoli anymore money and have no interest in the Daniel Craig films.

Hello, I know EXACTLY how James feels. I bought all the 007 movies on VHS when they first came out, then bought them all again as the 'Special Edition' DVDs, then when the 'Ultimate Editions' came out I once more opened my wallet. I know the the movies are becoming available now on Blu Ray...but enough is enough. Besides, the difference in picture and sound quality between the 'Ultimate Edition' DVDs and Blu Ray isn't great enough to fool this die-hard James Bond fan again! Take Care!

The worst part about Bond blu-ray is everyone of them (including the first 20th films) has a Bond blu-ray trailer that including DC's mug on it.

And here's the Bond blu-ray trailer:
Because DC's mug is featured in this trailer, I decided not to buy any of the original 20 Bonds, and that includes Pierce's Bonds (my personal favorites).

Hello, This I believe is a fan made James Bond Blu Ray trailer. It looks like he or she has basically taken the 'Ultimate Edition DVD' trailer and edited it for their own liking. The are some absolutely brutal edits!!! Examples: 'M' at the begining of the trailer: 'Tell me what you know of James Bond...." and Daniel Craig as 007 from the end of 'Casino Royale's PTS where he says "Considerably". This is not an official trailer but instead a poor hack job!

They are due to be released again. You mean special editions? If so, I would really want all 3 volume collection sets right now.

I'm not buying them again. I've already shelled out a fortune to Eon.
