If they tried to release Bond 23 in the summer of 2012 it could be 1989 all over again.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Isn't Superman and Star Trek set for 2012 also? Eon would be mad to even think about going back to a summer release after the success they've had since GoldenEye.

Isn't Superman and Star Trek set for 2012 also? Eon would be mad to even think about going back to a summer release after the success they've had since GoldenEye. Superman and The Hobbit are both scheduled for December 2012. So while EON could still find room in November, the competition is already bigger than anything CR or QOS had to face. Both those films benefited from having a relatively clear run throughout the entire holiday season, but a 2012 Bond would lose a lot of theaters to major tentpoles like Twilight, Superman, etc. This- along with the hiatus- puts added pressure on EON to get things right. They can't afford another disappointment like QOS and will likely try a return to something more traditional.

Monsters Inc. will be back in November 2012 also. If Bond 23 does come out in 2012 it looks like it will be October.

I don't think that is a great time to release big films, just after Christmas. It would be strange for them to miss the 2012 celebration if they had a completed film.

We don't seem any nearer to some news. I can't remember the world of Bond being this quiet for years.

I prefer TWINE to TND.
The Bond world is depressing. I quite liked Casino Royale but the series has lost it's way and now there are finance problems.
The Bond series of Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan seems like a distant memory.

GE is a better reboot than CR.

What makes TLD and GE a reboot? Bond is made younger when a new actor comes aboard.
