I can't remember if we have discussed our favorite Roger Moore Bond movie here. I''ve had a Roger Moore Bond movie festival so am interested to see which is best.
This time round I enjoyed Live and Let Die the most as it seems different from the others and it's a tough performance from Roger Moore.

The Spy Who Loved Me is the best one.

I think Roger Moore had a great stretch of performances from The Spy Who Loved to Octopussy. A lot of people say that For Your Eyes Only was his best performance as Bond, but I think one of his best performances (perhaps his best) was in Moonraker. His performance in Moonraker is overlooked because the film is considered to be so ridiculous. However, so many scenes come to mind where I think he was at the top of his game. It's as if he was riding a wave of confidence, or perhaps momentum, after the success of The Spy Who Loved Me. He had solidified himself in the role, and that allowed him to come off strong in every scene.
My favorite film of Roger's though has to be The Spy Who Loved Me. This film might contain his best performance as well. Moore gets criticized for being a lightweight actor, but I think the scene where he admits to Anya that he killed her lover is one of the strongest scenes in the entire franchise.

I can watch all the Rog films and have a good time but I do have a big weakness for TSWLM and MR because they are so big and bold and over the top. We'll probably never see Bond films of that scope again.

Octopussy completed the legendary Sir Roger OTT Bond trilogy: wonderful fun. He had Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only alongside the camper entries so Roger was very lucky.
Daniel Craig is unfortunate in that the current Eon setup will keep delivering the same movie for him.

I like Live and Let Die a lot too. That fight on the train at the end always makes me laugh.

On top of all of your favorite Bond films with Roger, what film do you members of this forum think contains Sir Moore's best performance as Bond? I'm forcing myself to make a choice and I choose...
...The Spy Who Loved Me.

I thought The Spy Who Loved Me was Roger's iconic Bond role too. He fused the cinematic Bond with his own persona and created something wonderful.

I think he hit his stride with that one. It didn't suit Moore to give Maud Adams a slap in TMWTGG.

I think he hit his stride with that one. It didn't suit Moore to give Maud Adams a slap in TMWTGG. That wasn't Moore's style at all. I don't understand why the production team was trying to reinvent Moore in the first two films. Once they let Roger be Roger; that's when things took off.

I think Lewis Gilbert said they didn't use Roger the right way in the first two films. He played to his strengths more in TSWLM.

Gilbert was great for the Bond franchise. YOLT, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Moonraker. He made Bond films of epic proportions.

I even quite like rog in A View To A Kill. I think The Spy Who Loved Me was probably his best one. He looked good and seemed to hit his stride.
