Hello! A Bond-Fan of some 30 years, here! ;D It's nice to come across a more broad-minded, and evenly balanced board, like this one

I promised I'd join the forum of this great website a while back.
I'm a long term sceptic of "Craig as Bond". I sometimes post on the MI6.co.uk forum.

Thought I would join because I really believe movie history is being made--with Daniel Craig. I really can't keep quiet anymore. I'm 19 and never thought I would be a Bond fan until Daniel came along. He just blew me away and two of my buddies. No other actor today brings high art to action films but that's exactly what Daniel does. Just look at QOS and the kind of input Daniel put into it and it rocks! People were starting to stay away from the Bond films but it took Daniel to turn that around. Daniel represents the most realistic James Bond and my buddies and I believe that the producers read between the lines of that Ian Fleming writer and really saw what the writer had in mind. A no-nonsense agent that has the quality of a badass bouncer combined with the nasty hoodlums you find at street corners. You believe this guy can fight anyone but he's also got some modern elements in him, like the way he wore those trunks in CR. I know, people made fun of that but the producers and Daniel put in that artsy side to show he's got a soft side and he's not afraid of expressing it. Believe me, I've been meaning to join for some time, felt I had to talk about Daniel, but it's hard because the energy that he brought into the character is unbelievable and I can't really think straight. My two buddies also wanted to join, but they're too excited and I don't know if they can handle their emotions. That's the kind of fandom that Daniel Craig can cause. There isn't another actor that can do that. Yeah, go ahead and laugh, but I tell you no other actor today is like Daniel. He's like James Dean as Bond. Our classmates think we're crazy for trying to put together a Daniel fan club on campus; but over at our chess club, we have the full support of the members. You see, there's a phenomenon that's brewing and Eon Productions know Daniel has lit the flame. What Obama has done to politics is what Daniel is doing to the movie industry. Daniel is The One. Watch...QOS is going to blow away all movies this Christmas and won't surprise me if all those critics will be forced to republish their bad reviews as good reviews.

What Obama has done to politics is what Daniel is doing to the movie industry. Actually, I think Craig's Bond represents the Bush era more than the one which will follow. The same could be said of Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer. (Indeed, all three have attempted to offer commentary on the current administration- with varying degrees of success.) This is a narrative that is already being played out in the media, in articles such as this one (which was recently posted here). www.newsday.com/entertainment/movies/ny-ffmov5913530nov09,0,3554107.story

Fingers crossed that the legendary phenomenon that is Daniel Craig has a hit film without Sony/Eon/007 one day. It might speed up his departure from the franchise.
