TBU took in just under $70 million it's opening weekend in the USA, and will probably top $200 million here at the end. IF it goes over well internationally, how can Eon ignore this? Also, word is out of a Matt Helm movie in the works. This will be more competition for Eon to worry about, or copy from. Who would you like to see in the role of Matt Helm, in a serious role, not ala Dean Martin?

Sammy as Matt Helm? Should Matt Helm be American, as Bond is British? What American actor could fill the bill?

They may want to go with a dark haired actor, as a way of setting it apart from the Bourne-Bond-Bauer crowd. Either way, the producers would have one advantage over the competition- assuming they would risk it- in that they could really go for broke with a hard R-rated film. It might ultimately mean less box office, but it would allow them to stake out a territory that the Bond producers can't venture into. (I don't really know much about the project, but I do remember the last script review suggesting it was hard R material.) I just hope they get someone who is over six feet tall. You know, like the character was written?

That is a very good picture for a very credible choice for Matt Helm, but his age could be a factor if he is not mid 30s. As an aside, The Invasion, an $80 million budgeted film with Craig and Kidman has been pulled from USA theatres. The garbage film did a whopping $12.6 million in 2 weeks in the USA and a tiny bit overseas. This goes along with Craig's Infamous, which also did a whopping $2.4 million in the worldwide box office. December 7 will be Craig's Pearl Harbor where the film studios wagered a $150 million budget to cast Craig,Kidman and Eva Green in The Golden Compass. Watch this sink into oblivion as well and will PROVE Daniel Craig has NO drawing power whatsover and that he was given a gift by his gal-pal Broccoli to be the ONLY Bond that was allowed to be truly serious and dark. Craig,by himself, is a joke as a box office draw. His supporters find him to be such an acclaimed actor. If so, where is the proof?

I think Craig was slightly flattered by the PR push for CR, which of course any alternative actor would have got. If Cavill had done CR Sony/Eon would have had everyone thinking he was Marlon Brando by the time the film came out. I like Craig in some roles and he's a good actor but James Bond? Not for me.

His supporters find him to be such an acclaimed actor. If so, where is the proof? If that were true, he would've risen to the top a long time ago. I don't mean to suggest that he would've been headlining films, but there are plenty of respected character actors that have become household names. And Craig has been in plenty of high-profile films over the years- yet he was still virtually unknown by a great deal of fans when announced as Bond. I'm not surprised that The Invasion received bad reviews, but it is surprising that it tanked right out of the gate. You'd expect all the newfound Bond fame to translate to a decent opening at least. Then again, I've met several people who have seen Casino Royale, but honestly couldn't remember the name of the guy who played Bond.

Craig is quite forgettable in all of his roles, but he will always be remembered as Bond, much to his chagrin.

I won it seven years in a row before Daniel Craig came along with his luminous waistcoats. You may remember the Greg Haugen fashion line from a few years ago...
