This is quite amusing. www.mi6.co.uk/news/index.php?itemid=8330Jesper Christensen will not be reprising his role as the villainous Mr White of the Quantum organization in the next James Bond film, the 23rd in the series. Not just because his character is unlikely to feature in the story, but also because the Danish actor lashed out at the predictability and quality of the two films he appeared in opposite Daniel Craig. Speaking to press ahead of Friday's premiere of his new film "The Family" at the Berlin film festival, Christensen said that he is happy that his "interlude as a villain in the James Bond series is over." Explaining his position, Christensen said: "Today, I admit that I regard [Casino Royale] and [Quantum of Solace] as really ****. All the people die in them, so two movies are enough for me." His reasons also extend to his personal goal of maintaining two career tracks, one in Danish film and the other in foreign films, mostly English-language. "After such a role, I typically like to wait a year before there comes the perfect offer for a Danish film. I say no to a great deal of offers, because I want to avoid force feeding audiences with Jesper Christensen."

The rebellion continues. Where's Alvin? Quick, call 911! We'll need to get the paramedics for all the Craig fanatics because, gulp, CR and QOS actually suck big time according to one of the cast members. And this guy's role is actually pivotal to the plot in those films. But he even saw the stupidity. He "lashed out at the predictability and quality of the two films he appeared in opposite Daniel Craig." For this guy to reveal this, he obviously isn't proud of his involvement and certainly isn't proud of those films. And he's obviously not returning and doesn't expect to return to the series. Why? He probably senses something screwy with the franchise and just wants to salvage his career in the foreign film market.

I can't even remember who he was which shows how much I'm enjoying the current era.

I bet he is being attacked by many of the Daniel Craig fans! He is not the first actor who takes himself seriously but does a few less demanding roles for the money then regrets it. Daniel Craig, who takes himself very seriously as a very serious actor, did Tomb Raider and has attacked that film ever since.

This actor, Christensen, is a clown. Now he's squirming out of the hole he's put himself in by blaming the media in Berlin. He's now back-tracking on his comments about CR and QOS. It's obviously damage control and a cover-your-behind tactic. But his explanation is bizarre to say the least. Look at his last few lines. The types of films he usually does, like this new one he's promoting ("A Family") is far more interesting than Bond films, so that's what forced him to say that CR and QOS were "s**t." It's a bit like an alcoholic saying that he doesn't really drink. But the damage is done. He can put all the spin he wants, but his true feelings for these Craig Bond films are out of the bag. Even more ridiculous is how he takes the time to compliment CR but forgets to say positive things about QOS. It's also hilarious how the report (from another Bond site, which is pro-Craig) actually states that QOS "was received far less well by critics." www.mi6.co.uk/news/index.php?itemid=8336&catid=4&t=mi6&s=newsJesper Christensen claims he was stitched up by the press at the Berlin Film Festival for sensationalizing quotes where he criticized the 007 franchise. The Danish actor, who played villain Mr White in the last two James Bond movies, created a firestorm last week when he was quoted saying his Bond films were 'really shit' during promotional work for his new movie "A Family". He is now back-tracking on some of those comments. "I have great respect for the people who make Bond films. They have managed to create their very own meta-universe, almost a genre in itself and a series of 23 films now. It is unique."
"I think Casino Royale is a super movie, which I am proud to be involved in. I think my character was becoming a really fun one and would have continued if it had been timely." He had no comments on the 2008 follow-up, "Quantum of Solace", which was received far less well by critics.
"Humour is a dangerous case with journalists, in line with 'Oh, they got me. Bond is a sissy', or similar. Come on, if the Bond films were that bad, I would not have made them."
All that said, Christensen hinted at the core of his reasoning behind his original comments: "That I think that movies like ["A Family"] is much more interesting to watch and more in line with why I became an actor is all together a different matter."

This sounds like a damage limitation excercise. His agent probably phoned him after he sobered up and asked him to retract his views on the two Bond films he was in, which he clearly seems to think were beneath him. I wonder what Daniel Craig will say about Quantum of Solace years from now.

Hello,
Maybe Jesper Christensen was miffed that after a big build-up with his character and Bond at the end of 'Casino Royale'...Mr. White didn't really play a huge factor or get to do very much in the terrible 'Quantum Of Solace'. His role turned out to be just an extended cameo.
Funny...I found Mr. White much more interesting than the pathetic main villain, Dominic Greene.
As for Daniel Craig's thoughts years from now on 'Quatum Of Solace', he'll be honest and won't hold back.
I think he has enough intelligence and integrity to say the film didn't come off the way he had hoped, and he would do it in a way that wouldn't offend Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
Take Care!

Funny...I found Mr. White much more interesting than the pathetic main villain, Dominic Greene. Greene is hands down the worst villain in the series - although I'm not sure if I consider the last two films part of the series anyway. It's not that difficult to believe that Christensen really did think Quantum was s**t. I wouldn't be surprised if DC and Michael G Wilson secretly held that view also.

The other night, I saw a French film on DVD called A Christmas Tale. One of the stars was this guy Mathieu Amalric, and it struck me (again) how this guy had no business playing a Bond villain. He's all right in these straightforward dramas, the kind of actor who does his part in an ensemble cast but you see nothing extraordinary in him, then when you turn off the DVD player you forget him completely along with the film. We're talking "bargain-basement foreign film actor" with this guy. Eon certainly got what they paid for--a completely useless villain, although you could blame much of that on the idiotic QOS script. I'm not sure what the hell Eon, Haggis, and Forster were trying to do, but this character was a combination of one of those gay cowboys in Brokeback Mountain and Neil Sedaka. He sort of just camped it up since he had no idea what to do with the character. Eon needs to start hiring higher quality actors. They can start by ousting Craig. ;D

It's fair to say that EON don't believe in wasting money on big names!

This is unbelievable news. Jasper Christensen is a great actor and you can tell that he has a fiery passionate personality but he's also in touch with his inner emotional side, that's why he turned around and changed his mind about CR and QOS. You see, he probably stepped back and assessed the situation and realized how these movies changed a lot of mens lives, just like it changed his life. Years from now, many people will be speaking of CR and QOS like the way people cherish classics like The Sound of Music or Citizen Kane.
