Ladies and gentlemen, we have reach the end of Batpoll, and let me the present you the last Batfilm you will vote a rating on.
Right before Batman Begins ends, we knew there's going to be sequel, and we knew who's going to be the next villain.
Christopher Nolan decided to take the sequel to the next level. Some of us thought it was just going to be another sequel in Hollywood. Speaking of the villain, some thought Jack Nicholson may once again reprise his role of the Bat's archnemesis. Instead, Heath Ledger was cast, and certain fans thought he is too much of pretty boy to play the part. We moviegoers thought we know too much, but it's not until the first teaser surprised that the sequel isn't just going to be great. By the time second trailer came out, we were surprised even more, especially on the Bat's worst enemy.
Just as Heath Ledger completed his duties on The Dark Knight, he was suddenly found dead in his apartment at a relatively young age of 28. It's been said that his death resulted from prescription drug overdosed, and Jack Nicholson said to the press that he "warned him". Nicholson added that he doesn't know Heath personally, but he knows those pills Heath himself used. After the young actor's death, the sequel was hyped and promoted. In my opinion, what brought him down was the role of Joker as he put so much energy to the part that he had trouble sleeping as well as breaking out of character.
As we cruised through 2008, most of us thought Indiana Jones would rule the box office gold worldwide for the year, but due to the promotion surrounding Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight appeared to be giving a surprise. None of us knew how much the sequel would make for the opening weekend, but suddenly, it went nuts in breaking box office records. It made $158 million for the opening weekend and became the fourth movie to pass the $1 billion mark.
You can see many moviegoers consider this movie not only to be the best of all Batfilms but also one of the best movies of all time. This is how to make a beyond great action film. One of the reviewers said that Christopher Nolan isn't some guy dealing with special effect but rather a storyteller. Plus, this reviewer added that Nolan deserves an Oscar for Best Director. Now let's get to Ledger himself. He took us by surprise and stole the entire show. His performance was highly praised, worthy enough to to get an Oscar. As for Bale, he continues on to be the best of the Bats. The Dark Knight caught the most attention from high profile awards, especially the Oscars. Unfortunately, it received one Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Heath Ledger) and no Oscar nomination for Chris. However, the sequel to the Batreboot received 8 Oscar nominations and won two of them. One of the winners was Mr. Ledger.
So there you have it people. A very good words to say about this art work.
Before the Bat rises next year, please do yourself a favor and rate this overwhelmingly great masterpiece, or should I call it the best James Bond movie of all time? As with Batman Begins, The Dark Knight has Bondian elements. Bale in the tux, gadgets, nice car, Q-like character in Morgan Freeman.....you name them. If you want a great post-Brosnan Bond movie, The Dark Knight is there for you along with its predecessor, and both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are nothing special, great or not. The Bat belongs to the Oscars, but DC's Bonds DO NOT!!!!!!
"Because he's the hero Gotham deserves. But not the one it needs right now. And so we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent gaurdian. A watchful protector. A dark knight."
