Roger does get some abuse from fans but he was an iconic Bond and Connery's Bond was camp and silly too. Let's face it Fleming's books were camp and silly too. So I'm not sure why Moore gets attacked for making a quip.

Great article and nice to see someone thinking for himself rather than trotting out the usual nonsense.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Britt Ekland sees Rog as a Fleming's Bond.

I think Fleming intended more of a (in his younger days) Roger type than a Craig type. Not all the jokes and parody but someone who was more suave.

Ian Fleming watd Roger Moore as James Bond. Would he have wanted Daniel Craig? No!

Roger Moore ensured the Bond series survived after Connery.

Roger Moore had many famous Bond moments: the underwater Lotus, Jaws, the parachute jump at the start of The Spy Who Loved Me.
Or do fans find that cheesy today and prefer some short odd looking fellow in a pair of tight swimming trunks? ;D
