Very sad. It was unexpected too as he had retired from acting and had a business and family in the US.

The Who Dares Wins era Lewis Collins was definitely worth a look for Bond. I gather Cubby didn't like him much though.

I think he would have been great as Bond in the 80's - an opinion shared by many.

He looks definitely Bondian in here: And he was a great actor. Besides his performance in The Professionals, his film based on similar events the raid on the Iranian embassy, Who Dares Wins was spectacular. Shame he's not with us anymore. He was the Jason Statham of his own era.

I think a Lewis Collins Bond film would have been a lot of fun. He'd have been tougher than Roger and not a million miles away from Craig in approach but - importantly - looking more like a traditional Bond.
