I'm not sure if this is true, but it is reported that QOS will have the longest opneing sequence. "The opening sequence of the new Bond movie will be the longest yet, stretching to 30 minutes before the credits appear.
Daniel Craig has spent three months filming a chase scene in Panama for Quantum Of Solace.
A Bond insider said: "It will be full-on action from the first second. Craig leaps from a Harrier jump jet into a speedboat and ends up in his Aston Martin. There is also a fight between helicopters.
"It is the big set-piece to rival the chase when Craig was up on the top of the crane in the last Bond movie."
Until now the longest pre-credit sequence of a Bond movie was 14 minutes in 1999's The World Is Not Enough.
Production of the movie, named after a short story by James Bond creator Ian Fleming, will now move to Chile."www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/sunday/2008/03/09/new-james-bond-film-opening...

Sounds like the kind of overkill that everyone complained about in the Brosnan films. It makes you wonder how everyone who praised CR for being a "serious" Bond movie will react to this $230 million action fest. It will also be interesting to see if Craig maintains his dour, humorless portrayal throughout- or if he'll actually pretend to be having fun. After all, I'm not really sure how serious you can be in a movie that has "a fight between helicopters".

The fanboys are already starting to get nervous at all the promises of more action and a fantastical lair for the baddie etc. I saw some footage on the BBC a while back and they had a clip of Craig and Judi Dench looking incredibly serious as they looked at each other with expressions that said 'I'm in a really serious film.' So I think it'll be a bit of both. More action and generic Bond trappings mixed with the general tone of CR.
If the film is more entertaining and enjoyable than CR I'll say so in november although Daniel Craig is probably never going to be my favourite James Bond. He's currently behind Woody Allen and Bob Holness in my pecking order so he has a lot of ground to pull back.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Entertaining and enjoyable than CR or not, I'm still not going watch QOS.

I knew they would use over the top action and other James Bond elements in QOS.
It's due to a lack of ideas rather than wanting to win back anyone. They don't have a novel and can't do the Bond Begins aspect.
So they are left with stunts, gadgets and humour to try and pad the time out.

This is a positive thing. I hope they have the gunbarrel back...it will be fun to see the 1st Daniel Criag gunbarrel. The longer the opening sequence the better.
