James Bond in Panama www.ndtvmovies.com/newstory.asp?section=Movies&id=ENTEN20080044878 NDTV Correspondent Monday, March 24, 2008: Daniel Craig and the rest of the Quantum of Solace cast headed to Panama recently to continue shooting for the 22nd Bond film. Shooting for the movie began at Pinewood studios near London in January, and besides Panama, the rest of it will take place in Austria, Italy and Chile. Shooting in Panama was a great experience for the crew. Says Director, Marc Forster, "We are in Panama City right now and [it] has a real diversity of locations and looks which is really useful for us." Quantum of Solace picks up where 2006's Casino Royale left off and sees James Bond battle environmentalist Dominic Greene, a member of a cover organisation called Green Planet, linked to the death of Bond's true love Vesper Lynd which was played by Eva green. Bond is assisted in his revenge by Camille who also has a vendetta against Greene. Says actor Olga Kurylenko, "I think the set is beautiful, it's stunning, I really love it. Finally the real fun is starting." British actress Gemma Arterton takes on the role of MI-6 Agent Fields and Judi Dench returns as the MI-6 boss M. But as Quantum of Solace, releases in Britain on October 31 and in North America on November 7, Bond fans in India will have to wait for a while to catch the next Bond movie.

It sounds like a Pierce Bond plot. Shame he is not in it.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Pierce wanted a gritty Bond story for himself.

It sounds like a Pierce Bond plot. Well, it certainly sounds faithful to Fleming's short story. ;D

A fake environmentalist villain with a HQ sounds very Cubby Broccoli to me but everyone involved seems to be treating this film very seriously.

Perhaps it's fitting, then, that Craig and Co. will be filming in the "driest place in the entire world". Anyone else reminded of DAD's Ice Palace with these location pics? www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080326i.php

I could picture Roger Moore walking around that location in a safari suit.

www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2008-04-03-bond-quantum_N.htmApparently, the villain is using a humanitarian front (ie. ecology) to disguise his true evil scheme. Meanwhile, Bond has been betrayed and has set out for revenge. Complicating matters is a beautiful ally/rival who has her own interest in bringing down the villain. So not only does it look like something from DAD, it's virtually the same plot.

Arterton looks more like a daughter to DC than a love interest.

So, if Daniel Craig strides around with his stern face taking it seriously, then that will seem a bit strange. If he loosens up and plays it a bit lighter, then I will be asking: why was he hired in the first place?
