I also keep seeing stories that the new Bond girl will only be 22 years old.
So...basically 20 years younger than the guy playing Bond. Wasn't this one of the excuses for getting rid of Brosnan?

With all due respect to Daniel Craig, he's gotten even more craggy since CR. And I see they still have him sporting the unkempt bowl haircut. And I see he's become even more eyebrow-less since CR. And he still reminds me of Vladimir Putin. How anyone (as expressed in those fanboy pro-Craig forums) could think this guy resembles Sean Connery is ridiculous.
It seems to me (and this is just my view, so take it for what it's worth) that Eon's determination to present the James Bond character in an anti-establishment style (i.e. not the classical handsome look of previous Bond actors) is passe. I think the mood of society is elsewhere when you consider the popularity of the two male stars of "Grey's Anatomy," Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane. Dempsey was even voted by one of the entertainment mags (Entertainment Weekly, I think) as the star of the year because of his success with "Grey's Anatomy" and "Enchanted." Both actors are certainly getting a lot of media buzz, and women love them. For example, the fashion models I photograph (I know, it's a tough job but someone's got to do it) are crazy about these two actors. None of these chaps have the butch craggy look of Craig. If anything, these guys have taken the male look back to the traditional image of a leading man--tall, dashing, with luxurious hair. Or as my teenage daughters and their friends would say, "just hot with great hair."

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Out of all 6 Bonds, DC has the worst hair.

Nice suit, raincoat and shoes. The sort of clothes you expect Bond to be wearing. However the haircut is just as bad. Sort he would have longer hair which could be slicked back when appropriate just like Brosnan & Dalton had. The face looks craggy, CGI is something used on actors these days, Anthony Hopkins apparantly used it in 'Red Dragon' and it's being used in the new 'Sex in the City' film. They may start using it for Bond 22.

DC's more of a Nazi figure rather than mi6.

Dan the man Craig looks great in the first photo's I've seen. I like the slightly longer hair, and the man's a hit with the ladies. I'm guessing the other members of this forum are male models. Mimbos perhaps. ;D This whole Craggy Craig and the like is so old it's got one foot in the grave. Give it up already. Or at the very least find some new material.

He does look a bit craggy. I think that's why many people seemed to like Daniel Craig as Bond. They were fed up with a handsome male model type as James Bond and wanted a tougher, rough looking man as Bond to play a slightly different type of James Bond. It's not my cup of tea, and James Bond was always described as film star handsome in the books. Daniel Craig does look like Steven Berkoff!

I can understand the interest in a tougher Bond, I just think it's funny that people regard Craig as one. He's such a little guy. It would be somewhat different if he had made a career of playing tough guys, but he generally always came across as someone who would frighten easily. Yet suddenly, everyone tries to pretend that Craig is far and away the toughest actor to ever play Bond. A prime Connery would've broken Craig down just by leaning on him. Even Brosnan- an actor you typically don't think of as being "big"- made Craig look like a little kid in that famous photo of them that made the rounds.

I enjoyed reading the spin from fellow member "benny." Dan the man Craig looks great in the first photo's I've seen. Yeah, he completely conveys that matinee idol image of Vladimir Putin. I see nothing different in the hairstyle. It's basically the same tousled bowl haircut he's been sporting in CR and even in The Golden Compass. As one of my colleagues (a makeup artist) mentioned, the tousled untidy style is an attempt to hide Craig's thinning hairline. Not that there is anything wrong with a receding hairline. But with a multi-million dollar budget, you'd think the producers could afford to get a better hairstylist for Craig to give him a more dignified look. That's a nice compliment, except that it's not grounded in reality. Yeah, Craig is such a hit with the ladies that People magazine voted Patrick Dempsey the star of the year and crowned Matt Damon the sexist man alive. All the ladies also managed to miss Craig's two films of '07, "Invasion" and "The Golden Compass," which tanked spectacularly, despite Craig receiving top-billing with Nicole Kidman for those films. If he's such a hit with the ladies, then he should have a strong following. These two films should not have opened so poorly--at the very least, the significant number of women who can't last a day without seeing him in a new movie should have made a difference. But maybe there's another logical reason why they didn't show up for these films: All these ladies were no doubt too busy to go to the movies--too busy because they were at home watching "Grey's Anatomy" to catch a glimpse of the hunky Dempsey and co-star Eric Dane. I photograph fashion models and they just find Craig completely unappealing. It's amazing to hear their comments about stars like Dempsey or a Gerard Butler and how they're simply captivated by these guys. I don't mean this as a mean-spirited attack on Craig (just being playful here), but the only women who could possible find Craig appealing are hags, angry feministas, and loonies who get a kick out of being different by opposing the image of a classically handsome guy. Apart from me, I'm sure they're all terrific-looking guys. But one thing I do know is that the members of this forum are smart and can think critically and not join the herd mentality. Unfortunately for you, photographs show reality. And the members of this forum are simply discussing this first batch of photos, sharing their impressions. The hard truth (which you certainly have trouble accepting) is that Craig is craggy. This is one of the most common observations about Craig that I hear from people at social gatherings when the discussion of movies, stars, etc., comes up. It's just like with Robert Redford...I always hear comments about him being craggy. Except that Redford is 70 and Craig is just about to hit 40. So it's an uphill struggle for you. "Dan the man Craig," as you call him, provokes fans to comment on his cragginess, because his aging face completely contradicts the premise of this rebooted series featuring a supposedly young rookie Bond.

I remember the last shot of the CR teaser trailer - the infamous shot of Craig in the tuxedo - and thought "no one will accept him as Bond".
But lots of people on the forums said "he looks great" etc.
Either I'm mad, or those who accept a Bond who looks like that are mad.
I still think casting Daniel Craig as James Bond is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

He looks more normal than in the first photos released from Casino Royale where he had that crew cut haircut and skin tight shirt.
He is far too short and stocky to be James Bond, IMO.

Hello,
I respect what "Benny" had to say regarding his feelings about Daniel Craig...everyone is most certainly entitled to their individual opinion.
I want to give a huge compliment to Kadov for a very well thought out, well researched, intelligent, and great rebuttal.
It expresses my sentiments exactly...and I could not have said it better!
Take Care!
