Toby Stephens is to play James Bond, but only on the radio. It sounds quite good. 007 villain to play Bond on radio Stephens and Suchet will star in the radio version of Dr No
Actor Toby Stephens, who played villain Gustav Graves in Die Another Day, will play James Bond in the first full radio adaptation of Dr No.
Poirot star David Suchet will play villain Dr No in the Radio 4 adaption, beibng broadcast on 24 May to mark 100 years since author Ian Fleming's birth.
The station will also air a documentary following Fleming's niece's attempts to find out more about her uncle.
The two programmes are of a season honouring the Bond creator.
In James Bond, The Last Englishman, Professor David Cannadine argues that the Bond novels have played a key role in shaping England's national self-image.
Radio 4 will also re-run Amis, Amis and Bond, featuring writer Martin Amis talking about his father's obsessive interest with Bond and Fleming's writing.
Published in 1958, Dr No was Fleming's sixth Bond novel, and four years later became the first to be made into a film.
It sees Bond sent to Jamaica to investigate the mysterious disappearance of two of his colleagues.
The Radio 4 adaptation's cast also includes Samuel West, John Standing, Martin Jarvis and Peter Capaldi. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7380086.stm

Hello,
I cannot wait to hear Toby playing 007 in this radio production of "Dr. No"! IMO, He was fantastic as Gustov Graves, and he definately has the accent, acting talent, and everything else it takes to play James Bond on radio extremely well!
Does anyone have any info about how I could purchase this radio play? Is it available in the UK / North America? If so, on what format, and how much? Has it already been broadcast where I live in Canada, I wonder?
If you can help me, that would be great! Any info would be so much appreciated. Please write a post back if you have anything to add. Thanks!
Take Care!

Thanks! Take Care! Firstly, I cut and pasted the link wrong, so have modified it. You can listen to radio shows on the BBC website, and record them using some software. The BBC website normally has shows on their website to listen to a week after broadcast. Another person or I could record the shows and put them on Rapidshare or email them to you. I'm not sure about the legality of this. I'm not sure if they will be available to buy soon, but may be eventually. I could email BBC radio to ask them as they are often helpful. I'm looking forward to it too. The Kingsley Amis show sounds great as well.

I will gladly accept a copy of the BBC's "Dr. No" broadcast (and compensate you for your time plus shipping ) I will then find an address for the BBC...and mail them a donation in British pounds via money order. Does this sound okay? Take Care!

Hello,
Thanks to everyone, especially Harry Palmer for the link to BBC radio!
I found the entire play on Lime Wire. I haven't listened to all of it, but Toby Stephens is excellent as Bond. He has an edge sometimes that's reminisent of Timothy Dalton...but at the same time, makes 007 his own.
Great job Toby!!!!
Take Care!
