www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/a131426/craig-helped-choose-new-bond-title.html"Craig helped choose new Bond title Daniel Craig has revealed that he was involved in choosing the title of the latest James Bond film. The actor said he vetoed a number of suggestions made by producers because of their gory references to death and blood before insisting on Quantum Of Solace. Speaking to GQ, he explained that the title comes from a short story written by the author of the James Bond novels, Ian Fleming. Referring to previous instalments such as Octopussy and Live And Let Die, Craig pointed out that the title often means very little. "I was involved in making the decision. Names were coming out, some ludicrous stuff was going back and forth - I can't remember exactly, but you know the sort of thing, 'The Blood On Your Face'," he said. "I knew I didn't want 'death', 'die', 'bleed' or any of those things in the title." Director Marc Forster has left out some of Bond's most famous phrases in the new film in a move to bring the secret agent into the 21st century. Quantum of Solace will get its first public screening at the BFI London Film Festival at the end of next month. "

Ah, the kind, gentle Danny Boy Craig. He is against mindless violence and gore, so much so that he actually stars in a Bond film that is full of mindless violence and blood! At least, that's according to the early reports of the film. And, as we've all seen in the trailers, the film seems to be an action-fest. Fortunately, Alicia Keys and that Jack Somebody felt the same way and came up with a title for the Bond song that makes no reference whatsoever to violence and death: "Another Way To Die." The PR for QOS, including these sound bites, is just hilarious in a pitiful way. I take it this is all part of the massive marketing campaign that Sony was bragging about.

I'd like to thank long time James Bond expert Daniel Craig for explaining that to everyone.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

He is against mindless violence and gore, so much so that he actually stars in a Bond film that is full of mindless violence and blood! As he wanted a gritty Bond himself, Pierce really deserves this.

I'm looking forward to reading the views of "serious Fleming expert" Bond fans if Quantum of Solace has lots of mindless action (which it should have if everything I have seen and read is true). Then again, these are the people who though Craig smashing up an airport with a digger was a serious and humane action sequence!

This directly contradicts what Craig said back in December, when he implied that the title would be "a number". It led everyone to speculate the film would be titled "007"- an idea that the teaser poster seemed to support.
Craig even gave that little speech about how CR had Bond earning his 00 rank, so this film was really about him finally getting to use it. (But of course, now we learn that as soon as Bond gets it, the licence is revoked.)
I guess everyone just got tired of trying to spin the title into something credible. After all, what happened to the whole speech about how "Fleming wrote about relationships..."? Maybe they realized how absurd that pitch is when you're promoting a 100 minute action-fest?
Btw, I'm sure fans (not to mention Maud Adams) are relieved that Craig has finally cleared up that nonsensical title, Octopussy. Now if he'd just do the same for Dr. No, Goldfinger, and The Man With The Golden Gun.

They like old Danny boy at GQ. He's permanently the world's best dressed man.

Well, they must amuse us somehow during his dull tenure. After all if he's the best actor to play Bond, most talented, most handsome, so why not the best dressed? Even in that Hawaiian shirt from CR, let alone his clothing off screen.

Marc Foster saying he wanted to bring Bond into the 21st century is funny I'm sure lots of 21st century secret agents go off on killing sprees all over the world whenever their girlfriend dies.
Was Brosnan ever voted best dressed man at GQ during his tenure ? I loved Brosnan's Biroli suits. Even tried to get some myself, but alas, they are only made in Italy.

Brosnan's clothing (both suits and more casual clothes) in Bond was always great - elegant, classy and yet modern. To my mind it's something that 21st century Bond needs much more than ordinary T-shirts and trainers. Not to mention killing sprees...

During his Bond tenure, Brosnan was voted GQ's most stylish man in 2000. I watched the televised event. Actress Leonora Valera (who had a part in Brosnan's Tailor Of Panama) and Carly Simon presented the award. I remember Carly Simon on stage, singing "Nobody Does It Better" to Brosnan. Just before the release of DAD, he won the British GQ Actor of the Year Award. Here is the article, in case anyone is interested: pbfiles.t35.com/interviews/Inter015-GQs_Actor_Of_The_Year.html

It seems whoever is Bond will get the award from GQ. However Brosnan did deserve his as he did wear lots of quality suits on and off screen during his tenure. The producers made a wise choice dressing Brosnan in Bironi suits. They are nice suits and can only be bought made to measure in Italy. This gives Bond his own style which can't be copied by everyone. I suspect Cubby chose these suits back in 1995.

To be fair to the Craigster he does make light of this in his latest GQ interview. He says the 'best dressed man' award is nothing to do with him and suggests that he doesn't take it seriously at all.
