The Times had a list of the top 20 car chases in film history - the QOS car chase was at #10. entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article5199765.ece?token=null&offset=0&page=1"10: Quantum of Solace The Man With the Golden Gun and Thunderball were both considered for this list but variety is the spice of life, so we elected for just one example from the rich Bond heritage: The adrenalin-soaked opening sequence of Quantum of Solace features Daniel Craig’s Bond transporting a captured criminal mastermind from Lake Garda to Siena while pursued by agents of the shadowy Quantum organization. It’s a thrilling object lesson in how to capture the sheer danger of high speed driving and show it to people who are far too sensible to ever do it themselves. Apart from the destruction on camera one unlucky Aston Martin employee wrote off a £160,000 DBS while delivering it to the set, driving it into Lake Garda in poor weather conditions. To add insult to injury he was also fined £400 for dangerous driving. "

I dunno if I would put it on the top car chases in films, but it definetely makes a good contender for the top Bond car chases.

Marc Forster is such a brilliant director. He and Daniel Craig truly brought QOS to the level of high art, and now the opening car chase sequence is being praised big time. It's an unbelievable opening, the best ever in the series. There were a lot of bad reviews, criticizing how erratic the edits were in this movie, but those critics don't know high art. I saw QOS again on Saturday with my best friend Ron and he realized the reason why Marc Forster gave the film a rapid editing pace. It's all a visual metaphor of how life is so transitory. God, we were blown away by that concept. We were applauding every action scene. But that opening car chase is incredible. It deserves to be at the #1 spot on that Times list. Those editors should be fired. I bet this opening car chase is going to be taught in film schools.

Now I am wondering if you are mocking those who see Craig's films in a positive light.

I agree with Stocksilvian. It's a good Bond car chase but not the 10th best in cinema history.

Now I am wondering if you are mocking those who see Craig's films in a positive light. I take it that comment is directed at me. Well, you don't know me so you shouldn't go around questioning my sincerity. I happen to think QOS is a great film and I'm proud of what Daniel Craig and Marc Forster did with this film. That doesn't make my stance correct, it's just my opinion. But just looking at the recent exchange of posts here with you and some members, you seem to come here just to get attention by roiling the members.

In film history? Then no it shouldn't be there. The Dark Knight shouldn't be there either, Batman Begins had a better chase.
10th in Bond films is a possibility.

I must admit I was surprised. I had forgotten the chase seconds after seeing it. None of the reviews said it was anything special either. People tend to vote for the first thing they remember or the last thing they have seen. So I suppose it's not that surprising.
