Licence to Kill is the second James Bond outing for Timothy Dalton and unfortunately it was to be his last. The style of film is more akin to his own interpretation of James Bond and one that many fans feel is reminiscent of Fleming's original take on the character. Gone is the OTT humour which was synonymous with Roger Moore and we end up with a slick and cool Bond film that demonstrates that an edgy and serious in tone Bond film can be made with the added bonus of the lead character looking somewhat like Flemings character.
Please rate this movie out of 10 and feel free to add your own thoughts.

9/10.
Tim Dalton turns in a wonderful performance here. He's tough, he's on a revenge mission - and he is still James Bond.
The non-outlandish villiians are memorable and menacing. This serious entry still has lots of comical moments with a great role for Q and the wonderful crooked evangalist Wayne Newton.
Some people moan about the Miami Vice look of the film, but I love it! Pam is a great Bond girl, i liked the bigger role for Felix, and it has the last decent theme song.
It's a shame Tim could not have made a third.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

10/10.
This is my favorite installment outside of Brosnan's though it feels like a Lethal Weapon movie.

8/10. My respect for Dalton has gone up since DC took the role. You can tell he's on a revenge mission here whereas DC wanders through QOS with the same facial expression and you are never quite sure who he is supposed to be after anyway or even care that much.

Licence To Kill could be regarded as the last Cubby Broccoli entry, and therefore the end of an era. His formula was still adhered to for the Brosnan era before being discarded with the appearance of Daniel Craig.
The Eighties action feel to the movie is a good thing, IMO.
8/10

9/10. It would have scored an 8 if Tim had made three or four, if that makes any sense.

Hello, "Licence To Kill' to this day remains one of my favorite James Bond movies. The pre-titles sequence doesn't match Tim's debut in 'The Living Daylights'...but once the title song of this film ends we're treated to a story of non-stop action, twists and turns, and a script which is tailor made to Dalton's down-to-earth, human, and take no prisoners approach. Dalton to me, with apologies to Daniel Craig, is still the closest on-screen representation of Ian Fleming's James Bond. What never fails to amaze me is the emotion and energy Dalton conveys into every scene. You can feel his emotions even when he's not speaking a word of dialog. You definitely get the feeling that 007's 'bad side is a dangerous place to be'...as the 'Licence To Kill" promos promised. The supporting cast is top noch as well, with Carey Lowell as a gorgeous and tough Bond girl...also Talisa Soto as the bad guy's girlfriend turned Bond ally, Robert Davi (a great Bond villain that part of you can't help but like), David Hedison, Precilla Barnes, Anthony Zerbe, Everett McGill, Wayne Newton, and a very talented up and comer named Benicio Del Toro. Let us not forget a long overdue extended role for our beloved Desmond Llewelyn...as 'Q' goes on leave and rushes to Isthmus City to help an A.W.O.L. 007 complete his mission. As Bond tells 'Q': "You're a hell of a field operative." "Licence To Kill' also features some of the best stunts I have ever seen in a Bond film, from 007's robbery and hijack from Milton Krest at sea...to the films' action paced tanker truck climax. "Licence To Kill' didn't enjoy the commercial success it deserved for many reasons. For one, the film was not promoted particularly well. Also, this was a much more violent James Bond movie which left out younger movie goers because of the films rating. Finally, James Bond had some stiff competition in the summer of 1989 with 'Batman', 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', and Lethal Weapon 2' Despite this..."Licence To Kill' still managed to rake in 154 million worldwide...not bad for the inflation rate 20 years ago!!! For me this film really delivered on all levels...with a special fantastic swan song portrayal from Timothy Dalton as 007 that I will never forget. 'Licence To Kill' 9/10

A very underrated Bond film and Dalton brought more to the table than DC does. It's a shame the film bombed and legal disputes ended any chance of a third Dalton film. I think the picture from Alec is the US poster. The UK one was somewhat different:

The LTK teaser art was better than the eventual posters IMO.
