Brosnan could have made another two movies. He was in great shape for his age, better than Moore or Connery were in their fifties.
I would have liked one more Brosnan outing and then moved onto the next Bond. Those who attacked Brosnan for being far too old to play Bond again in 2006 were exaggerating to prop up the casting of Craig.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Brosnan could have made another two movies. One in 2005 and one in 2007. EON screwed things up by having Bond 21 delayed to 2006, which meant not having Bond 22 in 2007.

Regarding El Brozzer. Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he wouldn't mind his old job as James Bond back --and he doesn't know why he was was fired from the role in the first place.
In a recent ABC interview Brosnan stated:
“I was wondering why the door closed on me!,“I thought everything was going so well! You know ‘Come back,’ they say, ‘Come back’ and there you go! We won’t talk about that.”
He says he still enjoys being recognized and called James Bond “They call me out, ‘Hey James, hey Bond,’ and I wear it with pride,” Brosnan said of his fans. “I had the greatest time in my life, making that character, being part of that franchise.”
It’s the first time Brosnan has revealed his true feelings about no longer being Bond having previously praised his successor Daniel Craig . Back in ‘04, he told Entertainment Weekly, “Bond is another lifetime … behind me.” However he has never watched Craig fully in the role “I tried to watch it on a plane once,” I thought, OK 37,000 feet, this is a good distance to watch it from. And I watched it and it broke down, and then they fixed it and it broke down again.”No doubt Brosnan loved being Bond. I wish I could say the same about Daniel Craig.

Roger and Pierce enjoyed being Bond the most out of the 007 actors.

He probably wanted to do one with less silly jokes and a harder edge although no James Bond film has ever really been gritty.

He probably wanted to do one with less silly jokes and a harder edge although no James Bond film has ever really been gritty. We know he wasn't very happy with his last 3 Bonds, particularly DAD. Before doing GE, he did said he wanted to explore the deepest part of the Bond role, especially on what makes him a killer.

Pierce was'nt just in better shape than Connery and Moore were in their 50's. He was also younger than both of them before they made their last Bond movies (53 & 57). Pierce was only 49 when he made DAD and would have been 52 in 2005 when filming started for the next movie.
Simply make a gritty Brosnan movie with him making mistakes and reduce the gadgets. Perhaps acknowledge him ageing similar to how Moore and Connery did in their last few Bond movies. Maybe get Quinton Tarentino on board who has repeatedly said he wanted to make a Bond movie with Brosnan.
End Result: A classic Bond movie with an established, popular actor in the lead role.

The only rumours about Cubby being interested in blonde actors I've heard were Redford & Newman in the 70's and Charles Dance in the 80's.
After Connery it seems that Cubby wanted an American Bond for the 70's. After the problems with Lazenby he probably wanted an American who would appeal to the UK & US. John Gavin was signed up, then stepped aside. Reynolds was considered but rejected. Robert Wagner and Clint Eastwood have recently come out of the woodwork and claimed they turned down the part. Redford and Newman were famous, handsome and the right ages. However I'm sure they would have both rejected any advances. Cubby eventually chose Moore who was well known in the US for 'The Saint' and 'The Persuaders'.
Charles Dance was one of about 20 actors rumoured to be in with a chance after Moore stepped down in the 80's. He was handsome, tall with a big female followiing. Perhaps realising he had no chance and to boost his profile he claimed he turned down the chance to audition for the part.
I do not believe Cubby would have considered Craig.

Although at 40, Sean was showing his age in DAF. Compare to Pierce in DAD, he looks older.

Cubby had a strict rule about the height of any potential Bond. It's why Burt Reynolds was rejected by him.

That means neither Daniel Craig or Sam Worthington could ever have been Bond with Cubby in charge.

Wonder if their wearing 'Churchs' shoes which cost between £300-£500, or John Lobb shoes which cost between £1500-£2500 ?
