www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5iLmumnNpOx0RR7NOh8Z5DAMNvvsgAlex O'Loughlin: I'd love to play Bond(UKPA) – 2 hours ago Alex O'Loughlin has said he'd love to be the next James Bond. The Back-Up Plan actor once auditioned for the iconic role and joked that he didn't like to be reminded of that fact. "It's really nice because everybody who asks me about that is essentially asking me about the biggest audition of my life that I never got, so thank you for the reminder," he said. He added that he would still like the role if it came his way, saying: "It would be an honour to play James Bond." In The Back-Up Plan, Alex plays a man who meets the love of his life - played by Jennifer Lopez - on the day she falls pregnant from artificial insemination. He said his favourite scene of the film is when he and J-Lo's character go to witness a waterbirth. "I think that that's the funniest scene I've ever been involved in, and it was the most difficult scenes to film because we were all laughing so much, and it's my favourite scene in the movie," he said. :: The Back-Up Plan is released in cinemas on May 7. I've said before that he would be a strong contender to be the next Bond. At 34 he has a bit of time on his side. He's currently not too big for Bond but if he continues making films with big stars like J Lo that may change. He's tall but more dark brown than black. I would'nt say he's got the good looks of a Connery or Brosnan. However he is more handsome than Craig.
I did'nt know he auditioned for the role. He definatly was'nt put on the shortlist.

There's a slight Lazenby quality to him in that trailer.

I think the casting director said he looked too young in the tests.

I doubt he'll be considered next time around to be honest. It was 2006 or bust.

I think he would have been ok but, like Worthington, he's doing quite well for himself without Bond or EON now.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

I think he would have been ok but, like Worthington, he's doing quite well for himself without Bond or EON now. He looks a bit like Clive Owen here.

The ship has sailed. By the time they recast, actors not presently on our radar will be involved.

None of these actors who tested with DC really had any chance of being cast.
