de.eonline.com/uberblog/b182055_ ... _paul.html Although he (Haggis) admitted he was not too impressed by Quantum of Solace he had nothing but nice words for long-term Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson left.
"I had written a script and they decided to move in a different way," he said. "I liked Casino Royale. I like these people. Barbara Broccoli is a wonderful producer, so I wish them all the best."

I think there's also jealousy here. Daniel Craig was also involved in the script writing, he improved the script because he's a genius. So I bet Barbara Broccoli booted Paul Haggis from the production because Daniel was doing a better job. Now Paul Haggis looks back at QOS with jealousy.

I think Haggis was a little too earnest to be writing Bond films and he had a book to work with for Casino Royale anyway.

The reboot foundered after they had to come up with an original story for the sequel. Does anyone know how different the Haggis scripf for QOS was from the finished one?

That photo of Daniel Craig with the knit hat is awesome. My friend Maynard is sitting right here, next to me, and he's just blown away and wants to get the same kind of winter hat. That just proves how influencial Daniel has become. Even in that photo, he just oozes with charm in casual clothes. He's truly an inspiring man.

From what I read, that Haggis script was just too unbelievable and would've been so dramatic that QOS probably would've won best picture. Now barbara Broccoli and that brother Wilson probably regret getting rid of that script. I mean, Daniel craig's Bond finds Vesper's daughter, that was the main theme and would've left audiences in emotional tears. My mom was telling me the other day that there was a movie called Love Story back in the 70s and it was such a poignant drama. She said that everyone in the theater cried and the movie made a cultural impact for her generation. QOS would've been something like that too had they stuck with Paul Haggis script. I mean, can you imagine how the film would've broken all sterotypes and cliches of action movies, with Bond united with a little girl who's mom died for Bond? I have some tears right now in my eyes.

I saw it on TV recently and it's a good chance to see Craig with black hair like Connery or Dalton.

This movie was a true psychological thriller. You know it would've been better if they gave Daniel the Adrien Brody role. Daniel looked cool with black hair. He sort of reminds me of Sean Connery, like the way Sean Connery looked in the 70s. I do see a little of that Timothy Dalton guy in Daniel too. But Daniel Craig is Daniel Craig. Those other actors just don't have his essence. I don't think they changed the lives of many men like the way Daniel has.

Secondly, aren't you over doing it? It's one thing to admire an actor, but as I look at your posts, you're expressing a bizarre idolatry for Craig. And in your other posts, you mention some sort of new age/socially progressive rebirth that you claim men are experiencing through Craig. Man, that's just plain weird. I realize that you and the likes of Chuck are metrosexual guys and that you got to do what you got to do to be yourselves; but you need to step back and look at things for what they are. Craig has no semblance whatsoever to Connery or Dalton, got it?

Does anyone know how different the Haggis scripf for QOS was from the finished one? In one interview with Haggis, he was vague but mentioned that he came up with a plot that the producers threw out and they all had to start over. I remember just before QOS came out, there was a report that Haggis had the scenario with Bond finding Vesper's kid and he basically just moves on with his life. It's not clear though if this is what Haggis meant in the first report about the producers throwing out his plot. But this business about a kid raised a number of problems for the producers. Haggis himself said that the producers were just uncomfortable with it because Bond is also an orphan and the whole notion of leaving the kid just wouldn't put Bond in a good light in the eyes of audiences. Another writer then worked on the script while they were filming. I think his name was Zetumer or something. Anyway, the whole development of the QOS script was a mess. Here's a piece on the chaos of the scriptwriting: n007.thegoldeneye.com/qos_script_chaos.html

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible
