Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Next is Star Trek: Generations, the first to star the TNG crew. It also features both legendary captains. According to some die-hard Trekkies, Kirk's death was poorly handled.

It's okay, but I haven't watched it in years. Part of the film's problem is that it both felt and looked too much like a 2-part TNG episode. The fact that the script and villain weren't very good didn't help either.
Nimoy offered to help out with the script early on and was basically told his input wasn't needed. He eventually said there was no reason for Spock to be in the film and turned the role down. (When the film came out, he realized that all his lines had just been given to Scotty- which basically confirmed his belief that the storyline didn't need Spock at all!)
I believe there were a couple of versions for Kirk's death, but neither of them were very good. Killing off Kirk without Spock or McCoy present just didn't carry much weight.
Shatner used the Borg to revive Kirk in his book, The Return. It actually had a pretty clever storyline.

What's your rating on this installment, poirot?

I would say 6, but no film starring William Shatner as Captain Kirk deserves anything less than a 7.

It seems to me that Berman ruined TNG films the way Babs ruined Pierce's Bonds.

I don't think the real Kirk died here. They could easily have explained it away with the Nexus plot device.

7.
It's a nice movie, but it's a shame they could not have found a better way to inlcude Kirk.

Die-hard Trekkies are still not happy with Kirk's death.

I don't think the real Kirk died here. They could easily have explained it away with the Nexus plot device. Hello, That's such a good point, Harry! Shatner knows now he never should have let them kill off Captain James Tiberius Kirk! Did he not tell Spock and Bones in 'Star Trek V' when they were around the campfire that he knew he'd survive the fall off El Capitan because "He wasn't alone." "I've always known...I'll die alone." Kirk tells his two closest friends. The Kirk that helps Picard could've easily been an echo of the real James Kirk...much like the Guinan Captain Picard meets in the Nexus. The absolutely asinine decision to kill off Kirk also cost William Shatner a part in J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek'. I loved "Star Trek: First Contact"...but FormerBondFan is right - Rick Berman was the beginning of the end of Trek. Take Care! P.S. 7/10 for me on this one. My favorite parts were the christening of the 'Enterprise B'...the inexperienced Captain desperately turning to Kirk for advice. Kirk and Scotty saving the day, ect. I also loved the chemistry between Patrick Stewart and William Shatner. Kirk should've (deserved) a bigger role in this film and NEVER should've been killed off!

I don't like to think the real Kirk met his end in Generations. Shats for a cameo in the next Star Trek film?
