I quite like Never Say Never Again. Others don't. It was great fun, and Edward Fox made a great M. I also loved Alec McCowan's Q.

I thought it was o.k, a bit dissapointing but it some good stunts and Connery was as good as ever but the musical score took it down a notch a jazz sax?? Still a good effort though.

It would be nice to see a special edition of Never Say Never Again. I don't think the story behind the film and production has ever been completely revealed.

I too would love to see a bumper special edition of Never Say Never Again, with input from McClory, the story of NSNA v Octopussy etc.

Why can't we have a NSNA SE?

The plot is nearly as thin as Connery's thatch and the film is'nt very tense or dramatic. This is'nt helped by the music. There are some nice moments but it looks like a low budget Bond. Still can't beleive the director also directed 'The Empire Strikes Back'.

Hello, There is a very good "bootleg" version out there of a "Never Say Never Again: Special Edition", also known affectionately as "Never Say McClory Again". The biggest improvements to the film include a gun barrel opening and pre-credits sequence, some other great editing to tighten up certain scenes ...and a musical score using selections from all 20 EON Bond films. David Grieve, the man behind this gem, was disappointed that even with Sean Connery...the movie didn't feel like a "Bond Film." He writes: "Never Say McClory Again is a re-edit of the 1983 Kevin McClory production which presents Never Say Never Again with all the familiar EON 007 movie motifs including the famous gun barrel introduction and pre-titles sequence. The visual changes are important to be sure but the project takes the further step of replacing the original music of Never Say Never Again with selected cues drawn from the EON series of films, with at least one cue taken from each of the first twenty 007 movies. Created as a private fan project by a fan for whom Never Say Never Again was a poor substitute for a 'real' Bond film, Never Say McClory Again provides a 007 atmosphere that was noticeably lacking in the original." I was lucky enough to obtain a pretty good quality DVD copy about three years ago by making a donation to support his site. (for my generosity I was sent a gift...a.k.a. the movie) and it is simply amazing!!!! He can no longer send "gifts" to people who support the site for obvious legal reasons! lol I strongly urge you to visit the site...you watch examples of how much the movie feels more like Bond, and apparently you can now download the movie from there, as well! Here Is The Link: www.ohmss-007.com/neversaymccloryagain/index.htmlTake Care, and Enjoy! P.S. Take note, David Arnold...your score for "Casino Royale" was part of the reason it didn't feel like a Bond film. Shame on the EON producers as well for changing the gun barrel opening. The gun barrel opening for the Bond movies is iconic...next let's skip the 20th Century Fox Fanfare and opening scroll on a Star Wars movie.

That sounds very interesting. I've seen the credit sequence of this revamped NSNA on the net and it does seem a bit more Bondish with the music. I'm a bigger fan of NSNA than some (it tends to rank low on lists) and I think the fact it is a renegade Bond film adds to the charm a bit, although it could have been better with an Eon sized budget!

Hello, I'm glad to hear you're aware of the project Greg...being a fan of the movie and all. The original god-awful title song has been removed. The title song for "Never Say Never Again: Special Edition" is by none other than Shirley Bassey and The Propellerheads, and is called "History Repeating". It's seems an appropriate title song...with Bond being reactivated to regular 007 duty and it's also very much a "tip of the hat" to the fact that NSNA is a remake of "Thunderball". I must say...there is nothing like seeing Connery performing classic Bond moments in this Special Edition with the James Bond Theme, or other familiar pieces of music from other great EON Bond films! Take Care!

GoldenEye could do with that process. They hardly used the Bond theme in that film!

I don't normally like these fan edits, but this one sounds rather interesting.

I was interested to read recently that Peter Hunt was wanted to direct Never Say Nver Again.
He did not do it because he thought it would upset Cubby Broccoli.

I did not mind the Never Say Never title song. Whoever decided to play it over the opening Bond training sequence should have been shot. ;D
