Too old maybe but I wouldn't say disinterested. He appeared to me to be having the time of his life in AVTAK. Yes, I never thought Moore phoned in any of his Bond roles. He was too much of a pro to do otherwise, imo. Of all the actors, I think Moore and Brosnan appeared to enjoy the role the most- although Connery clearly loved it during those early films.

I think that's true. Timothy Dalton actually lightened up considerably in interviews after he left the role. If you watch the Licence To Kill DVD Extras he's very, very serious and glum.

Dalton seemed very excited during on-set interviews for Scarlett- something I never really saw him exhibit during similar press for Bond.
To be fair, however, I think a lot of it had to do with his idea of how he needed to approach the character of Bond.

Roger enjoyed making the films. I always imagine that he was sitting with a glass of champagne between takes.

I think Cubby would have made five or six Brosnan films and then hired a Gerard Butler or someone like that. He might have liked Jackman too. He gave the rookie Bond thing short shrift in the eighties and cast Timothy Dalton (after losing Brosnan) so we know what his general rules were when it came to casting a new Bond. In the Cubby era I think Daniel Craig would have been either mistaken for a window-cleaner or removed from Eon's offices by security. I do think though that the Brosnan films would have been bigger with Cubby. I think he would have given Brosnan a modern version of The Spy Who Loved Me or something a bit like Octopussy even. Big lavish adventures that played to Brosnan's strengths. Cubby knew how to work the frachise and knew what people wanted from Bond. How does it get past people that he nixed the current direction years ago. Along with removing his step son as writer. The serious Bond almost killed the series, I enjoy Dalton's films but when we're looking for a movie night film TLD and LTK are not on the menu. Most of America agrees with this, and Cubby knew it and fought to bring Bond back through Brosnan so he could leave a legacy. After DAD I left the theater hungry for another Brosnan Bond movie. Hopefully a better one, the sci-fi got in the way of a good story. They lose years doing nothign, wasting a great Bond actor and the momentum built up from the record breaking DVD sales. Look at Spiderman 3, I love Spidy but this movie sucked. the enthusiasm and the record breaking ticket sales didn't translate in to DVD sales because people were disappointed in it. I feel the same thing happened with CR, the DVD sales and rentals have not and will not match those set by the last 4 movies. Honestly It failed in the US where it should have done 200 million easy.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Cubby's Bond 22 would have released in 2007 rather than 2008.
