I didn't see a thread on it here, so I take it nobody is/was a fan of this utterly fantastic TV show? A must-see for any Bond lover as it does have quite a few of the Bond elements (including their very own version of Q, whose name is Marshall), but it's not a Bond ripoff at all. I warmly advise especially the younger fans who probably didn't see it back when it was on air (2001 to 2006) to watch it. You have 5 seasons of utterly great stuff awaiting you. And don't listen to those who say things went down from S3 on. It's not true. The last season admittedly missed something in the first half (I won't say what or I'd spoil plot). But then even that one, being the last one and the season they knew they were getting cancelled, was still damn good.
There's a lot of GREAT spy stuff in Alias, a lot of great ass-kicking and a lot of great acting. The actors are what always kept this show a great show, no matter what. The caliber of the guest stars is unthinkable for a show that airs now. They had ridiculously big names as guest stars. And it includes our one and only Sir Roger Moore, playing a villain, no less!
Many actors had their career take off thanks to Alias. Including Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan for obvious reasons, and people who had much less prominent roles also took off from Alias... (like Bradley Cooper, who was a regular but whose role was much less prominent than Garner's and Vartan's). This was the first big break for JJ Abrams, so a lot of "Lost" originates from here. JJ started working on Lost while Alias was still on, and you'll see a very familiar face on Alias, as well as lots of traits that were then transferred to Lost ;D
Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan and Victor Garber as well as Ron Rifkin were all great in their roles throughout the duration of the show. It really had a great blend of storywriting, characters and pace. It's definitely one of my all-time favorite shows. And yes, I absolutely love Michael Vartan, especially as CIA agent Michael Vaughn on Alias. He's my biggest actor crush ever. Even Cavill comes after him ;D
