My absence form the forum has not been intentional. The needs of a 10 month old baby girl and the ever changing mood swings of my 7 months pregnant wife (what was I thinking or more to the point why didn’t I engage brain - 2 kids in a year) have significantly reduced my leisure time and hence my ability to post Bondian messages on my favourite forums (DCINB and Alternative007).
Interestingly (well it was for me), I managed to catch a few spare hours over the Christmas period where my services to the ever expending Skywalker clan was not required. I decided to watch a few Bond movies and chose a select few that I deemed essential viewing. Goldfinger was my first and not only did it re-iterate how good a James Bond Sir Sean was but for me it still felt fresh and unique. I followed this masterpiece with my personal favourite ‘Live and let die’. It still amazes me how well Sir Rog takes on the role of James Bond. To follow in the footsteps of such a legend (Connery) and immediately seem totally right for the part just illustrates how good Moore was but more significantly how important it was to get the casting right.
‘The world is not enough’ was next on my list and again Brosnan felt like the right candidate for the role. I really like the story and in my opinion Brosnan just has the perfect look for Bond.
Finally, I decided upon ‘Quantum of Solace’. Why you may ask? Well 2 reasons. Firstly, I couldn’t remember what had happened in the film (wasn’t sure before watching it whether this was a good thing or bad thing) and secondly, I had recently purchased it for the grand price of 75p.
What a major disappointment!! This film is nothing short of poor and I found myself actually feeling sorry for Daniel Craig as it has such a weak script and cast. Whilst Craig is clearly not right for the role (General looks and portrayal) he was given a real turkey to work with.
I hope this current break in filming gives EON the opportunity to reflect on the Bond series and do everything in their power to hire the best director in current cinema (IMO) Chris Nolan and his star actor ‘Christian Bale’ to re-unite once again and give the franchise new life.

Congratulations Skywalker We should be so lucky to get Nolan and Bale. It looks like it will be Mendes and Craig. The fellow below looks much more like Bond to me.

Glad to hear that you and your family are well. QOS was a very odd movie. Daniel Craig must have been annoyed when he saw it (although his paycheck made up for it) and a Henry Cavill or Pierce Brosnan could not have saved that nonsense.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Daniel Craig must have been annoyed when he saw it (although his paycheck made up for it) and a Henry Cavill or Pierce Brosnan could not have saved that nonsense. Agree, that was beyond all human skills, not even Pierce or Henry would have saved it (though at least I would have been able to dreamily watch James Bond, as it should be ;D). Crappy script and ridiculously bad 2nd unit make it impossible to save an action movie. Even more so a Bond one with the main actor clearly miscast in the role. I agree with feeling bad for Craig about that one. Like him or not, he really had to deal with a ridiculously bad script. And, the release date has been set, MGM press release this afternoon. Nov. 9, 2012. Craig is back and Mendes is directing. Which is a BAD omen for poor Craig because he risks finding himself with yet ANOTHER QoS-like movie. I'm personally glad because this means we will be done with this quick. And we'll have actual news to talk about soon. And mostly, I am fairly sure that Craig won't do any more after this one. So, good. Now we can finally focus on who will be the next Bond. And hi, Skywalker. And congratulations to you and your wife! I do agree Bale has the Bond look (and he's a good actor). But I think, he's way too big now to do Bond. Still, they could have picked him back in the day. Even though my preferred choice is and remains Cavill.

I still don't get why QOS is rated higher than Pierce's last 3 Bonds if it's that bad. And I'm still puzzled why Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz gave a sequel a "see it". They're a bunch of motherf*cking @$$holes for that. Motherf*cking @$$holes......I tell you. Motherf*cking @$$holes! This is not good. When it comes to a milestone year, I know that b1tch will do anything to make it a success. A Bond movie releasing in a milestone year was a good sign when Pierce was still Bond but not anymore. If it's a success, Pierce's unfair dismissal will be in vain. It has and needs to FAIL, especially here in the US.

Bond 23 has and needs to get worse than QOS.
John Logan is a great writer but still Nemesis failed. I hope Bond 23 does WORSE than the last TNG film.

Hello, Good to have you back, young Skywalker! Yes - I'm sure being a Dad to a 10 month old baby girl (Congratulations!) would be enough to keep my hands full. Through your absence...I was calm, always able to feel your presence through the Force! I've been away too, and my reason is just waaay too long of a story. Welcome back, sir! Take Care, Alec 006

Alec......this forum really needs you. Hello, That's quite a statement and compliment, FormerBondFan. Thank you so very much. As for where I've been? Well like I was saying earlier - it's a rather long story. I have not been well at all over these past months (don't worry - it's not as bad as it sounds!) but it has not been good either, leaving me with really not enough time or strength to be around the Internet. Also- a few big life changes, sort of like Mr. Skywalker but not the same, have occured...but it's all good! I just want to say I've missed each and every one of you. Anything that someone would like me to chime in with my take - just fire away or PM me. Now that the MGM Bankruptcy debacle is settled and there's Bond 23 on the way - I'm glad to be here. Take Care Alec 006
