For Your Eyes Only would have made a good debut story for Dalton. Minus some of the sight gags.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

They cut out a flying carpet joke from TLD because it was too Roger. You can see it on the DVD extras.

I've seen the flying carpet sequence, or what they shot of it. I don't think the film lost anything by leaving it out and it was more Roger Moore than Timothy Dalton. I have read that TLD was written in a generic way because they didn't know who would be playing Bond.

No, they didn't need to put it in.

I find it hard to limit a list to 5. The reboot aside I find I can watch any Bond film and have a good time.

That's a good way of putting it. Daniel Craig is a 'the modern world is so awful you can't even have James Bond anymore' Bond.

I blame Daniel Craig for most of the world's problems.
