www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/4402930a1870.htmlAl Pacino is set to play a villain in the new Bond movie - the legendary actor is believed to be making an appearance as the head of the terrorist group in the latest instalment of the British spy franchise 'Quantum of Solace'.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Al Pacino has been approached about playing a Bond bad guy. It will be a brief but extremely important role. Movie bosses are hoping he will be the best Bond villain yet."
Pacino is expected to film his scenes at London's Pinewood Studios in April or May.
In the movie, starring Daniel Craig as the British super spy, Bond is hunting down the terrorists responsible for the death of his love Vesper Lynd.
Pacino, 67, will follow in the footsteps of stars including Christopher Walken, Christopher Lee and Robert Carlyle who have all portrayed a Bond nemesis.
Earlier this month, it was claimed Amy Winehouse was set to write and perform the theme tune for the hotly-anticipated film.
The movie - based on the books of author Ian Fleming - is to be released on November 7, 2008.

He made a guest appearance in Oceans 13. Getting him will give the film extra publicity. However he must be given a small role. A charismatic actor like him will blast Craig off the screen. I read Angelina Jolie was going to be in CR. But it was decided against it as she would take all the attention away from Craig.

Daniel Craig will have to wear special shoes or they will have to shoot the scenes from a special angle so Craig looks as tall as Pacino.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Pacino's agent had already dismissed this tabloid rumour.

Who starts these rumours? Does a newspaper start them? Or is it a film website trying to get publicity?

I usually try and not say anything too derogatory about Daniel, as he has started to grow on me as 007, but your words made me chuckle! As far as Big Al being a villian (rumored to be the head of the organization "Quantum")...I can't wait! Pacino will probably steal a scene or two, and will do one of his classic, over the top, psychotic speeches. eg) "The Devil's Advocate" Bond: "Only one of us is going to walk out of this room alive." Pacino: "Lemme tell ya somthin' brotha, it ain't gonna be YOU! Hooowahh!!!" Take Care!

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

I could not resist the Al Pacino gag. The fact that Craig is a bit too short for Bond would be forgivable if he looked a bit like Ian Fleming's character - but he does not! Strangely enough, Barbara's other choice, Sean Bean, would have been acceptable to me as Bond - and he is under six feet too.
