I keep reading that Eon are taking a year off after Quantum of Solace. Does that mean Bond 23 will be in 2011?

I imagine that's probably the earliest we'll see it.

It was rumoured that they would make Casino Royale and the following Bond back to back to get athe second movie out for 2007.

There will only be a two year gap after between CR & QOS as the producers want to get the public used to Craig. They hope that releasing two Bond movies in quick succession the public will come to accept Craig. There will no doubt be a three or four year gap after QOS. They did the same with Moore. TMWTGG was released only 12 months after LALD. However that proved to be a mistake as TMWTGG is generally regarded as one of the weakest Bonds.

But in the case of TMWTGG, there was also lower boxoffice and backstage drama to consider. Cubby needed to regroup on which direction to go in.
After the long delay between actors, I expected them to quickly release another 3 films the way they did with Brosnan. Their renewed enthusiasm after CR certainly made it sound like they would.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

And if DC's going to do Bond 23, EON should hire Uwe Boll as a director.

I can't understand the wait. It can't be that much hard work. Barbara Broccoli is obviously having the time of her life with her new Bond. It can't be that hard work for Michael - he is helping produce a James Bond film not working 50 hours in a factory for the minimum wage! I think they have completely run out of ideas, and are a bit worried that they have not managed to cobble together a great film this time. That's why they need a break - they have no idea what to do with Bond 23, and will feel even less confident starting work on Bond 23 on the back of people saying "this was not as good as Casino Royale". Or maybe Daniel Craig has said his third will be his last, so they want to have a delay to lengthen his tenure. I live in hope.

I think they have completely run out of ideas It appeared that way before they ever got to QOS. What happened to the Bond 22 script they had near completion back in 2005? What happened to the proposed Craig trilogy that would completely reboot the entire franchise? QOS looks as though they simply went back to their old approach to making Bond films: Lots of explosions, action, and stunts. In other words, pretty much the very thing they vowed to leave behind in 2006.

I think Craig's recent comments about not worrying about being typecast and the collapse of the planned Golden Compass franchise mean that he's here for the forseeable future. It's a shame to see the world's greatest actor slumming it in a series of silly, sorry, incredibly gritty, audience friendly spy adventure films.

DC's better off having Uwe Boll to direct Bond 23.
