The next film to debate is OHMSS which is the first Bond film without the Iconic SC. Directed by Peter R. Hunt and with George Lazenby in the role of Bond it is argued by many Bond fans that this is highly underrated and is one of the best if not the best ever Bond film. With the stunning Diana Rigg and a classic Blofeld in Telly Savalas, this is a classic Bond film.
Please rate out of 10.
The average score is 9.42 out of 10 @ 12.43 on the 11th of June

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

I wish Sean did this movie instead of Lazenby. A lot of fans would have consider it as his best.

After Connery quit, the producers boldly went straight ahead and hired an unknown with no acting experience. Apparantly Lazenby impressed them enough during the fights scenes in the auditions. Maybe Harry & Cubby did'nt appreciate Connery enough and thought that being able to throw a punch is all someone needed to play Bond.
Things started off badly straight away with rumours of arguments on the set between Lazenby, the other cast and director Peter Hunt. Either Lazenby could'nt handle being thrown into the world of Bond or was acting like a 'big time charlie'. He Later denied this, saying he was never late on set and there was misunderstanding between him and Peter Hunt early on. Peter Hunt then refused to speak to him for the rest of the shoot. Lazenby never commented on the rumour that Diana Rigg put garlic in her mouth before love scenes.
Onto the film. There are some decent action scenes. The PTS and ski sequences are good and it is true that Lazenby looks good in the fight scenes. However his acting inexperience is evident and his voice is dubbed throughout. He did'nt have the charm or charisma of Connery and was'nt drop dead handsome. The film is 20 minutes too long and maybe the public were'nt ready for a new Bond to fall in love to the strains of Louis Armstrong. But Telly Savalas & Diana Rigg are decent enough. The box office was down on previous films but people now call it a classic & the best in the seris, which is over the top praise.
The aftermath was that this was Lazenby's first and last Bond film. Lazenby says he quit as he thought Bond was becoming unfashionable and quoted the film 'Easy Rider' as an example. Other people say he was fired. I never read anywhere that the producers pleaded with him to continue, like they did with Connery. The producers probably thought one more flop could finish the franchise, so choose the safe option of Connery in DAF. 8/10.

Lazenby was nominated by the Golden Globes back in 1970 for Most Promising Newcomer - Male.

A big 10/10 for me. The most stylish film in the series, great action sequences. I don't even have a problem with Lazenby who for my money looks more like 'a James Bond' than any other 007 actor.

I loved OHMSS, its one of the best, Lazenby was interesting i think. Considering he was a model doing chocolate adverts before Bond, he did a great job. Peter Hunt should be praised. I think Martin Campbell was looking to mould an unknown for Casino Royale, but had Daniel Craig foisted on him, which probably made the shoot less fun.

A big 10/10 for me. The most stylish film in the series, great action sequences. I don't even have a problem with Lazenby Hello, I couldn't agree more. George only would've gotten more comfortable and better with each Bond. Damn his stupid agent for his moronic bad advice not to continue! Take Care!

He was only about 29 when he dropped the role.

Yes, on the UE DVD Lazenby said his agent informed him that James Bond was dead after Connery. Very bad advice. ;D
