How can anyone not love Roger Moore as James Bond? Funny to see him echo the sentiments recently expressed here about the Bond girls: "It's the same with the Bond girls. All the new ones say, 'Oh, I'm going to be different from the others', but before long it's always the same - 'Oh, James!'"

Moore made six films more than Lazenby, five more than Dalton, three more than Brosnan. Most fans think LALD, TSWLM & O are classic Bond movies which did great box office. So how can fans then say they don't like Moore ? Most sites i've looked have good things to say about him, a couple are not keen on him.
The usual arguments against are that he was too old and not serious enough. These two arguments are not that strong in my opinion.
He was 45 in 1973. Older than all the other Bonds. However he looked handsome and youthful and remained so right through the 70's. People in the 1970's were also not so age consious. Other action film stars of the 70's were also older, Newman, Mcqueen, Eastwood, Heston etc. So Moore did not look out of place as an action hero. The 1980's FYEO & O acknowledged he was getting older and made an action film to suit this. Both of these films are favourites with the fans. Only in AVTAK did he look too old.
The comedy and one liners during his era really started with DAF. If someone else had got the part in 1973, the comedy and one liners would have probably continued. The producers had no doubt decided to go this way during the 70's. Some of the comedy in his films are are funny, some make you cringe, but everyone remembers them. People used to go to a Bond movie in the 70's to be entertained, part of the entertainment is comedy. Comedy and innuendos continued to a lesser extent after Moore right through the Dalton and Brosnan era. Unfortunatly i've yet to see it in the DC era. Moore's films were more lightweight, but were not played just for laughs, there were always several serious and tense scenes in all his films.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Who looks older: Roger in The Spy Who Loved Me, or Daniel Craig now? Daniel Craig! Craig's Bond is humourless: unless you find badly delivered jokes about asking Swiss waiters to bring some chocolate funny. Roger's Bond was great, and I hope someone brings his style of Bond back one day.

Thats wishfull thinking with Babs now in control. It could happen. She produced Die Another Day. If Craig decides to do something else, or bombs at the Box Office, then a normal Bond may be commercially attractive. When people are bored with Craig Bourne rip-offs, they may want the stupidist Bond film ever.

Daniel Craig Bond with funny lines? If happen it will be really... funny. My point is that Sir Rog has natural talent for humor, one-liners, innuendos etc. Even when given bad lines he was able to deliver them in an amusing and classy way. Until now the only Daniel Craig's natural talent I've discovered is to play Bond being poisoned. On that field he is virtually out of competition. So perhaps he should stick to it...

It seems such hard work for Daniel to play James Bond. I know Connery wore a toupee, but a half-interested Connery, Moore and Brosnan still carried any Bond film. Daniel Craig has to rely on shoe-lifts, body building and a radical overhaul of the Bond character to fit his casting.
