www.chinadaily.com.cn/showbiz/2008-...ent_7158187.htm Daniel Craig is the "greatest Bond".According to 'Quantum of Solace' co-producer Michael G. Wilson, the actor - who reprises his role as the British spy for a second time in the new movie - has eclipsed all of his predecessors, including Sir Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan, with his portrayal of 007. Wilson told British radio station Heart FM: "He is the greatest Bond right now and the people love him." Wilson also confirmed Craig will definitely be returning to the role for a third time and revealed work will start on the next movie in early 2009. He said: "Last time when we were in post production on 'Casino Royale' we were already working on 'Quantum of Solace'. "This time we haven't started, but in January we are going to get some writers together and start kicking some ideas around." Long-running Bond producer Barbara Broccoli hopes 40-year-old Craig will continue as the secret agent for years to come. She said: "He's got to come back, we're not going to let him go."

I was going to suggest that Michael would not say: "..that dreadful little man, what an insult to the memory of Cubby Broccoli!".

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

He can't say anything else now. I just hope the next actor is given this same nonsense.

What else he could have said? Perhaps the truth - that Craig is the most terrible piece of miscast in the 40 years of franchise history, if not in the history of the cinema as a whole? And considering not very favourable (to say the least) reviews of QoS his statement appears to be nothing more than putting a good face on a bad business.

Brosnan and Dalton received the same praise from Wilson during their tenures. However, I do find it funny that he says Craig is the greatest Bond "right now". Neither Brosnan or Dalton had that little clarification added to their ringing endorsements. ;D
And in the midst of all this back-slapping, who is the only person suggesting "we'll see how it goes"? Daniel Craig. I get the feeling he didn't enjoy having to put up with EON's usual nonsense this time around. In one of his late 2007 interviews, he mentioned being promised quality scripts for each film. EON obviously didn't stay true to their word.

To be honest I can't see DC sticking with this part for long. He's done a Bond and made some money. Why would he want to spend his last prime decade as an actor making Bond films with those hacks at Eon? I know the fanboys are propping QoS up for all they are worth elsewhere but Eon & Craig must be really disappointed with the reviews overall.

Yes, it's not often you see an actor trying to distance himself from a successful role. Who goes around saying, "Well, there's a piece of paper that says I have to do another"?
I also read somewhere that Craig told a reporter, "This particular story is finished." So, it sounds like the whole trilogy idea has been taken off the table. This would be consistent with Wilson's earlier statement that the next film would probably be episodic- as opposed to another sequel. (Not to mention, the fact that they currently have no idea what the next film will be about.)

I was listening to a radio show over the weekend and a film critic was on slating QoS. He ended up discussing Bond with a caller who said he was more into the books than the films. Anyway, both of them agreed that Craig wouldn't stay in the role for long. If you watch Craig talking about Bond for an interview there is always a subtle air of polite indifference as if he'd rather be somewhere else or talking about something else.

So they have scrapped the trilogy plan, eh This obviously means the story is only half told. I've never heard of a planned triology stopping after two films. I'm sure fans of Star Wars, Bourne & The Godfather would have been confused and disappointed if their third films did'nt wrap things up. Mind you they had decent, understandable stories that could be told over three films.
BB must have read the complaints about how confusing the plot has become and decided to cut their loses and start afresh. Their big decision to reboot with a triology is all very well, but they forgot to get a decent script and story that could last over three films.

I agree DC does'nt look that enthusiastic when talking about Bond. I remember seeing an interview when he was promoting 'Memoirs of a Fool'. He looked much more animated and interested.
People like Brosnan & Moore seemed to enjoy and embrace the media attention. With DC it seems like it's a contractual obligation to promote Bond, rather than because he enjoys it or believes in the film.

So because Craig's a very nervous guy in front of the press he must not really enjoy being Bond? Craig has expressed in many interviews that he's uncomfortable with the press but it doesn't effect his enthusiasm for playing the role. Dalton wasn't quite the showman either in his interviews, I recall photo shoots from the press at Vienna and Dalton looking like he had no idea what to do with it all, fidgeting on his seat. Yet despite all of that, both of them are able to shake it off on the set and focus on their performance, that's what makes them professional actors.

They should'nt really appoint an actor as Bond if he's nervous in front of the press. There is more to being Bond than starring in film. It's 24/7 job. Even when your not making or promoting a Bond movie, you will be scruntinised by the press. What you wear, do, say, what other films you make etc. People will always be asking you about Bond. If people see a nervous man being interviewed it will effect how they view the character Bond. They will realise the person on screen is acting.
