So you're saying that the Bond actors in real life must act exactly like James Bond to give everyone the illusion whether they're in their private lives or in other films? Doesn't work that way. They can get scrutinized by the press for whatever reasons, in the end they won't matter and the films they're portrayed in will live on beyond what a tabloid says. For example it was pretty ballsy for Sean Connery to not wear a toupee at several points during the height of Bond mania, especially for Sidney Lumet's The Hill in 1965, but nobody cared in the end did they?

People like Brosnan & Moore seemed to enjoy and embrace the media attention. With DC it seems like it's a contractual obligation to promote Bond, rather than because he enjoys it or believes in the film. Moore is brilliant fun to watch and adores the attention. I think DC prefers to stay out of the limelight which is probably why he seems to lack enthusiasm when it comes to talking up the role. |

So because Craig's a very nervous guy in front of the press he must not really enjoy being Bond? Craig has expressed in many interviews that he's uncomfortable with the press but it doesn't effect his enthusiasm for playing the role. Dalton wasn't quite the showman either in his interviews, I recall photo shoots from the press at Vienna and Dalton looking like he had no idea what to do with it all, fidgeting on his seat. Yet despite all of that, both of them are able to shake it off on the set and focus on their performance, that's what makes them professional actors. I do get the impression DC is not as enthused about Bond as previous actors. This is not a criticism of the effort he puts in to playing the role. |
