They have a Bond film on the BBC tonight. That's very rare given ITV's stranglehold on Bond films. Be fun to see an uncut (hopefully) and widescreen Bond on British television for a change.

Hello,
Speaking of "From Russia With Love"...who could forget the classic confrontation between Bond (Connery) and Grant (Robert Shaw) on the Orient Express escaping from Istanbul:
GRANT: "You see the headlines? 'British Agent Murders Beautiful Russian Spy Then Commits Suicide'.
BOND: "Tell me? Which lunatic asylum did they get you out of?"
CLASSIC!!!!
Take Care!

I wonder if ITV have finally given up on the Bond films. I've long felt that they deserved the sort of treatment From Russia With Love got last night - not cut to pieces or shown in pan and scan. Top marks BBC

Love Grant's line when Bond mocks him. "You may know the right wines but you're the one on your knees."

Hello,
Good call on the "red wine with fish" line, Alex! How about:
BOND: "How much are they paying you?"
GRANT: "What's it to you?"
BOND: "We'll double it."
GRANT: "Your word of honor...as an English, gentleman? (Pointing his gun at 007) The first one won't kill you, not the second, not even the third. Not till you crawl over here and kiss my foot!"
I forgot how well written "From Russia With Love" was. The tension in the confrontation between Bond and Grant is classic...probably the best confrontation between 007 and a villain in the entire series!
Take Care!

Does anyone know how BBC2 got the rights to show it? I thought James Bond was ITV only.

This thread on the Digitalspy webpage is quite interesting. www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=625463&page=3They are suggesting that ITV loaned the BBC the rights to show just this film. As far as I know, ITV have UK terrestrial rights to all the Eon Bonds. I'm not sure they have the rights to the 2006 Casino Royale though.

Hello, Did anyone read some of the replies on the Bond / Digital Spy / BBC thread? How incredibly rude and insulting they are to one another!!! I just want to say how very proud I am to be a part of the "Alternative007" Forum. Why? We treat each other with kindness and respect...I feel close to all of you and that you are all good friends. Brosnan week on ITV2 next week. All 4 PB films will be shown. ITV run the PB films out a lot. Even though I have the DVDs I can never resist a Bond film on television.
