commanderbond.net/article/6236James Bond star signs up for villain role on 'Doctor Who'Timothy Dalton has a licence to exterminate—reports The Sun. The former James Bond star has signed up for a role as a villain in one of David Tennant’s final episodes of Doctor Who. Details are currently being kept to a minimum, but it’s been reported that Dalton has already flown in from his home in Los Angeles for filming. An insider said: ‘Timothy Dalton is a big coup for Doctor Who because he’s pretty iconic.’ ‘He’s in the UK right now and is shooting scenes over the next few weeks. It’s a good gig for him as it will be one of the most memorable episodes yet.’ Dalton’s role will be in one the last three specials featuring Tennant in the title role. The BBC1 has yet to announce when exactly these episodes will air, but they are expected sometime around Christmas. The 007 actor was most recently seen as a villain when he portrayed the decidedly sketchy Simon Skinner in 2007’s Hot Fuzz

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

I wonder if Tim could be the next villain in Star Trek XII.

Nice to see TD emerge as a cult character in his later years.

Nice to see Timothy in anything. Hello, I'd pay money to watch Timothy Dalton on stage in London reading the ingredients off soup can labels! (That's a bit of a stretch....but not much!!!) Take Care!

It seems like a slightly forgotten film nowadays. I thought Dalton made a very good villain.

Dalton was great in Flash Gordon too. He looked Bondlike in many of his films before he was cast as Bond.

He also starred in 'Framed'. A four hour mini T.V. seris with David Morrisey.
He played a big time criminal living it up abroad. He gets caught and turns supergrass. Then plays mind games with Morrisey before escaping out of the country again. Well worth checking out. America did an inferior version with Sam Neil.

It was after Licence To Kill when TD was still expected to come back and make a third Bond.

Not a very good poster. It makes it look like a Bond rip off action film, which it was'nt. However it was a good, tense psychological thriller with Dalton playing the bad guy. It was shown again a few years later and was cut down to a two hour movie. Which was'nt as good in my opinion. Not sure if it's possible to get, but as I said it's worth checking out.
It came out in 1992. Right in the middle of LTK & G. Dalton did the promotional rounds and said he was still very much Bond & was looking forward to making more. Things obviously changed between 92 & 94.
