Hello, I'm VERY much in favor of a fifth "Indiana Jones". George Lucas threw out a story idea earlier this year that wasn't very well received by fans. He said: "In the next one, Mutt Williams would be the central character and would have to go on a quest to find his Dad (Indy) after he mysteriously disappears...much like Harrison had to do with Sean Connery in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". OUCH! George...say it ain't so!!! I also heard rumors afterwords that Lucas has dropped the idea based on negative response. Take Care!

Harrison Ford said that he wouldn't participate if Indy 5 is going to be CGI like Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie.

I hope Indy 5 would end up as great as Raiders.

I hope Indy 5 would end up as great as Raiders. Hello, I would love to see that, too. Lawrence Kasdan (whose writing credits include 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'Return Of The Jedi') did the screenplay for 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', and, as we all know...knocked that baby out of the park. I wonder if he's available for the next one? It only makes sense that if you want an Indy movie as good as 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'...get the man who did Raiders' screenplay attached to the project. The thing I like is George, Steven, and Harrison REALLY have to agree and all like the script before they'll even consider giving the movie the 'green light'. That bodes well for another fantastic adventure with 'the man with the hat'. Take Care!

Lawrence Kasdan is needed for the next one. Indy 4, while enjoyable, isn't at the same league as the first 3, and it's time for Steven and George to look back on what made them classics.

I wouldn't mind another one but they'll have to get on with it. The last one took about twenty years for them to decide on a story.

Harrison also said that he'll do Indy 5 as long as it doesn't take another 20 years.

Also, if Ford is not in it, or in it in a minor role, then it is not an Indiania Jones film but a spinoff.

Posted 2 hrs ago by Adam Rosenberg in News
Crack out your salt shakers, because you'll need to take this news with a mighty big grain. New Zealand outlet Stuff is reporting (via AICN) some news on the next "Indiana Jones" movie, including the first hard facts we've heard about what the story might entail and when production is expected to start.
Citing an unnamed source, Stuff reports that the George Lucas/Steven Spielberg-penned script is "almost there," and that the story will take Indiana (Harrison Ford) and his son Mutt (Shia LaBeouf) to the Bermuda Triangle. Even more encouraging -- again, if the source can be trusted -- is the final quote: "Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy's son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie."
I'm torn about this news, or any news involving the future of "Indiana Jones." That series was an integral part of my childhood, and... well... "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was a major letdown in some fundamental ways. I don't think it was the piece of garbage that some have labeled it to be, but the otherworldly twist at the end... oy.
That said, the 68-year-old star still has a knack for making Indiana's roguish good heart work on screen in a convincing way. Also, LaBeouf is a fine actor. And an honest one. It was just a few weeks ago that he fessed up to "Crystal Skull"'s inadequacy, willingly shouldering part of the blame. He also raised a few eyebrows by calling out Spielberg's own mistakes, but his words were genuine and clearly came from a place of love and respect. That whole crew deserves another crack at sending Ford's Indiana Jones into the sunset properly and entertainingly.
I'm not going to speculate on the Bermuda Triangle story possibilities, though it is certainly a ripe location for a treasure hunting adventure. It is encouraging to hear that the plan is to shift away from CG animation and back towards physical special effects. Again though... without an actual named source, it's hard to take this as anything more concrete than an encouraging rumor.
Rumor or not-- what's your take on the news?

I'd love another, but I don't think it will be made.

I want to see how Indy got to wear an eye-patch as shown in the bookends of the Young Indiana Jones series.

I want to see how Indy got to wear an eye-patch as shown in the bookends of the Young Indiana Jones series. I don't think we'll ever see that in one of the films. I believe Lucas removed those bookends from the Young Indy dvds- or more accurately, way back in the 90s, when the series appeared on VHS. They're basically Indy's equivalent of the Star Wars Holiday Special- something Lucas tries to downplay as much as possible. Remember, Indy also had a daughter, rather than a son, in the Young Indy series.

07/06/2010
Harrison Ford’s final outing as Indiana Jones will be “emotional and exciting”.
The Hollywood star is well-known for his portrayal of the archaeologist and adventurer, and has agreed to reprise the role one last time. Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting next year, and much of the plot line will be centred around the Bermuda Triangle, an area over the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft are said to have disappeared.
“George (Lucas) and Steven (Spielberg) have been working on a script and it's almost there," a source explained. “Harrison is on stand-by for filming next year. This looks like being an emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet.”
The last film in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released in 2006. Shia LaBeouf played Indiana’s son Mutt Williams, and he will also appear in the new instalment.
Movie bosses have assured fans the film will stay true to the series’ roots, and won’t contain lots of state-of-the-art special effects.
“Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy's son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie,” the source added.
