Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

you always bashing Craig, so why not? Razzies was Brosnan's REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT WORST SCREEN COUPLE it means THEIR ACTING to each other were WORST (NOT JUST DENISE RICHARDS). different opinion came with Brosnan fanboys that said his suave, debonair acting in that movie was a perfection? how was the performance that received razzies nomination considered the best of the series? (Brosnan best since GE?, yawnnnn) That proof Brosnan was a mediocre actor, with only have a PREETY BOY FACE as a strong selling poit Connery, Zeta Jones, Will Smith (even AL PACINO) have won Academy Awards they ARE NOT poor actors.they have proof themselves as an ACTOR. Even craig (who you hate the most) have nomination from BAFTA for his role as BOND in CASINO ROYALE Brosnan as Bond? he got razzies nomination Brosnan as Non Bond? he got razzies award, and i think he was THE FIRST BOND ACTOR to achieve that!!! The man who plays James Bond needs to possess a star quality, more than acting quality, in order to be successful in the role. Connery, Moore, and Brosnan have that star quality. That's why their tenures as 007 were the most successful.

on more thing Brsonan has kicked the crap out of Alec Trevelyan, Stamper, Renard, Zao, and beat G. Graves in a sword fight. Craig beat up... Dominic Greene, and Mr. White, come on no real threat there. It's apparent to me who kicks more ass. Craig may be an asskicker, but he's more of a Rambo/Bourne/Terminator type than Bond. "I'll be back." EON has forgotten that the archetype for James Bond is Odysseus, not Achilles.

I'd give Casino Royale five out of ten. With better direction, a more suitable Bond actor and a third act it could have been better. I liked the idea of doing a young Bond project in 2005 but now I really don't care for the reboot at all, especially as it's now obvious Eon hadn't thought it through at all beyond cribbing a screenplay out of Fleming's original novel. When they have to think for themselves these days the results are laughable as QoS illustrated.

I’ve posted reviews of Casino Royale on more than one occasion. Each time I’ve wrote a review my opinion of the film tends to change. I suppose I’ve now had plenty of time to ascertain a more precise opinion. My current view is that the film has positives but far more negatives. Like many others, I liked the initial concept of the young Bond direction and accepted that a change of lead role was necessary to fulfil this. So with an ageing Brosnan despatched to the history books we were introduced to a surprising choice in Daniel Craig. The English born actor didn’t comply with the Fleming character as he lacked many of the physical traits that had become synonymous with James Bond. That said he set about improving his rather feeble physical appearance with an intense fitness regime that significantly enhanced his previous slender frame. Given the type of action film Casino Royale turned out to be the improved physique was definitely needed.
The film opens with a smart, although rather brutal black and white PTS that initially appears to set the tone of the film. It was the sort of opening that really opened the audience’s eyes and was a statement of intent by Eon that Daniel Craig is Bond. Personally, I enjoyed it and felt that Daniel had imposed himself and made a real impact.
Unfortunately, the impressive opening and cool title track are quickly replaced with a gloomy looking Bond and a rather mundane film. Daniel Craig has his moments but the retention of Dame Judi as M and the cringe worthy ‘young Bond’ aspect leave the film not really knowing what it wants to be. Craig doesn’t have the youthful looks required to portray such a character and for me this compounds the films frailties.
I’d give the film 6 out of 10. It could have been so much better with a different actor in the lead role – one who didn’t look so old.

Seems I was pretty generous, giving CR 7/10. Other reviews have given it 6, 5 & even 4. Chuck predictably gave it 10 but failed to write a review and expand on why he thinks it's so good.
Three years after it's release and with the hype over, it seems that back in 2006, CR was perhaps the most over rated film ever.

5/10. It's ok, but Eon did not have to ignore the old series; Daniel Craig is not really Bond, let alone a young Bond; and it is not a movie I can watch again and again.

I was shocked at the reaction to Casino Royale. Everyone seemed to act as if was the one the top 20 all time greatest movies.

Films are often overrated when they first come out. With Bond films, the longer the break the more people seem to like them, GoldenEye and Casino Royale being a case in point. With CR I think the negative press during production caused people to lower expectations prior to the film coming out.
