A long time ago in a world of pop culture far, far away...
Three years after Star Wars returned to theaters, the next episode, Attack of the Clones, was set to fill up the theaters.
Taking place 10 years after Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Anakin Skywalker (now 19) is now a padawan of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenodi, and he has grown up to become a very powerful and respected Jedi. According to the Jedi code, a Jedi shall not know anger...nor hatred...nor love. Skywalker, however, is often seen as arrogant and has shown his thirst for power.....a trait that would later drove him to Dark Side of the Force as we know today.
Much has changed since after Episode I, but the threats remain the same. The Separatists and Darth Sidious continue to launch an attack against the Republic and the Jedi with the help of a rogue Jedi known as Count Dooku. Young Skywalker is assigned as a bodyguard to Padme Amidala (now senator of Naboo) after a failed assassination attempt on the senator herself. Skywalker's assignment later become personal, which led both him and Amidala to fall in love (which is against the Jedi Code) and got married afterwards.
The war against the Separatists has been taken at a higher level, causing the Republic to summon the Clone army, and the Clone Wars has begun.
When Episode II - Attack of the Clones was released in theaters, it received the same reaction as its predecessor. This include poor direction, poor acting, and weak dialogue. However, many thought it's an improvement over the previous episode due to Jar Jar Bink's minimal screen time. Box office wise, it grossed lower than Episode I and was not the top grosser of the year (2002) like the previous episodes. This was due to the fanbase's reactions to Episode I. Nevertheless, it was a financial success and one of top 10 grossing movies of 2002.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones is out on Blu-Ray along with the rest of the saga and will rerelease on 3-D in 2013.
