The trailer is edited together very quickly. To quickly for me. It's to hard to see what is going on, and furthermore what the finished film might look like. However from what I have seen, I might enjoy this entry more than the much hyped Casino Royale. At least the action looks to be upto a Bondesque standard. And hopefully the Bond theme can be used more in this film. I wonder why the villains are so underused in the teaser though? Is this something to worry about? No doubt other sites will be getting into a frenzy with the teaser trailers release. Thank goodness there is a place to get away from all that. You summed the trailer up very accurately. It's hard to guage how a film might turn out from a teaser. I thought the Casino Royale teaser gave too much of the film away.

The teaser trailer seems to suggest there is more action than in CR. Mind you that is'nt hard. Seems there still won't be much humour as Craig looks as serious as ever & has'nt aged well over the last two years.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

I saw pierce brosnon on sky news, anyone who thinks hes to old, think again, he looked about 40 to me, he looks fantastic, what a nice man, what a star, he would have been fab in QOS.Picture him in the trailer, i would be so excited to see it, its a wonderful dream until you wake up and see its really craig, so sad! What Pierce needs are putting up some makeup and getting in shape.

Brosnan did an interesting interview the other day which I'll try and find later. I think he's still quite bitter about the whole James Bond thing.

That may have been part of it. Probably the main reason was that he had another two Bonds in him. Six strong Bond movies with a motivated Brosanan giving a strong performances would have made him the best Bond. Connery went through the motions in YOLT & DAF while Moore was too old and tired in AVTAK. Brosnan would have had an unblemised record.

Regarding how Craig looked weather-beaten in the trailer: In a way, it doesn't surprise me. I saw a photo of him in Tuscany last summer when they were shooting some scenes in an equestrian event. Gawd, I thought then he aged significantly since CR. Now, the haggard look, and the bags under his eyes, and the craggy mug are actually intensified in the new trailer because of some of the grimy saturated lighting. He's definitely not aging well. Add to that his weird pale sickly complexion and his coarse scraggy thinning hair, and you've got the most decrepit-looking Bond ever. It seems Eon is aware of it all, because any lingering shots of Craig were bypassed. You'd think by now they would have boundless confidence in their man and his overall persona, especially coming off the success of CR and all those PR stints with the magazine cover stories touting that Danny Boy was the best dressed man for the next several centuries.
I also noticed he's not as bulked up as he was in CR. Yeah, he's still got the muscles--but Eon can't really go in that direction and showcase Craig's muscled physique prominently because the much admired Gerard Butler stole the thunder on that with "300." My main impression of the trailer was that they didn't want to emphasize the character James Bond. Instead, the emphasis of the trailer was the action, the style of the action--loud, fast, angry action. Eon is now dealing with the problem of having Craig: they can't make a true James Bond film that celebrates the Bond character, so they're distancing themselves from it. There are suggestions of a Bond film--the logo, the fragments of the Bond theme, and so forth. But the whole thing doesn't blare out that this is Bond. The tactic now, which was basically started in CR, is to offer audiences, particularly the youthful grunge generation, an action-fest with shades of Bourne, featuring a character that just happens to be named James Bond.

That may have been part of it. Probably the main reason was that he had another two Bonds in him. I think both sides handled the fallout pretty badly, but regardless, Brosnan still got a very raw deal. He'd had a long relationship with EON, and had served them extremely well during his tenure as Bond. Not to mention, they had already asked him to return, and he had agreed. If any franchise would honor a gentlemen's agreement, you'd expect it to be Bond. Then, of course, they went and made all the changes he had been begging them to make for years: Scale back on the stunts, toss out the bad one-liners, focus more on Bond's character, etc. So yeah, I think he definitely had reason to be pissed off. It's kind've ironic that James Bond- a true icon of the boomer generation- essentially got forced out of his job. It's basically the same thing many boomers in their 50s and 60s have had to endure over the past decade.

There are suggestions of a Bond film--the logo, the fragments of the Bond theme, and so forth. Good observation about the fragmented theme. What a fitting musical cue! I almost hope they don't restore the familiar elements to this incarnation of Bond (ie. traditional gunbarrel, music, Q, Moneypenny, etc.) It somehow just doesn't seem right. But at the same time, I'm surprised they've abadoned them to this extent. I thought they got away with imitating Bourne in CR, and would now be able to fully embrace the series' strengths. Instead, they appear to have copied Bourne even more blatantly. The post-Connery films have always taken inspiration from others, but they didn't sacrifice their identity in the process. Bond could dabble in someone else's game, but he never stopped playing his own. I mean, can you imagine if LALD had been followed by Moore in a knockoff of Shaft's Big Score?! ;D

The teaser trailer seems to backing up the rumour that QOS will be an action fest. Very Bourne like which is'nt suprising as they hired Bourne's second unit director for QOS. Physically Craig looks less muscular than in CR which in turn gives him less screen presence partly due to lack of height. I'm sure in the film he will be leaping around so everyone can say how fit he is. Not much emphasis was placed on Craig and the character of Bond. No close ups of Craig. They probably learnt their lesson after the CR trailer. I doubt that we will see a charismatic and engaging Bond who cracks a smile, let alone gives a one liner. The film will no doubt be non stop action and the character of Bond will only be toached on when trying to show everyone what a ladies man he is. Having Bond walk around with a heavy machine gun is very 1980's, maybe they should have hired Arnie or Stallone.

The sequence will involve a bearded Bond in a shoot out in a wind tunnel. He's also on a skateboard and has a nuclear bomb strapped to his chest.

Interesting Brosnan interview. He does seem bitter & clearly wanted to do two more. If he had done two more there would be no bitterness.
