My main impression of the trailer was that they didn't want to emphasize the character James Bond. Instead, the emphasis of the trailer was the action, the style of the action--loud, fast, angry action. Eon is now dealing with the problem of having Craig: they can't make a true James Bond film that celebrates the Bond character, so they're distancing themselves from it. There are suggestions of a Bond film--the logo, the fragments of the Bond theme, and so forth. But the whole thing doesn't blare out that this is Bond. The tactic now, which was basically started in CR, is to offer audiences, particularly the youthful grunge generation, an action-fest with shades of Bourne, featuring a character that just happens to be named James Bond. That sums up my thoughts more eloquently than I could.

To be fair the film does look like a good action movie - not a bond movie id say, the lack of the bond theme just proves that i think!

There are lots of movies copying each other, so I would have though the Bond makers would use James Bond's uniqueness, the handsome suave British secret agent in a tuxedo. They have chosen to ignore that which I find very odd.

Has anyone seen the trailer for the new Batman movie? gizmodo.com/gadgets/batman-trailer/the-new-dark-knight-trailer-334545.phpWhen compared to the QOS trailer, this one has the feel of the Batman franchise without giving too much away. QOS looks good, but I still don't get the Bondian feel of the previous Bond films (CR excluded). Heath Ledger is being tipped to get an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of the Joker.

I got a free summer preview DVD with a film mag so I was able to watch The Dark Knight trailer on my television. It looks amazing. A quantum leap from the Burton films which were a bit dreary and too gothic for my tastes.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Heath Ledger is being tipped to get an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of the Joker. DC The Antichrist better not get nominations from the Golden Globes or the Oscars for Bond.

Yes, I'll get cracking on that Captain. I've cleared my weekend to update the cat pictures available on the site.
