Whoops. I misread this thread and missed the part about bringing back characters with the original actor. I wouldn't mind another Beverly Hills Cop either. I'm suprised Murphy hasn't latched onto this idea sooner with his career having collapsed so lamely. That last one directed by John Landis was so awful even Murphy complained about it.

It was a bit confusing! Maybe there should be thread of characters that should be brought back to the big screen - a Sherlock Holmes film is overdue. I also read that Lethal Weapon 5 is being talked about. Beverly Hills Cop III was a bit of a strange affair. Aleins lost its way after Aliens. I remember someone saying that they had some great scripts for Alien 3, but messed it up a bit with the actual film. It would be great if they could bring back Sigorney for another outing. I'm sure I also read that Gerard Butler was pencilled in to play Snake Plisskin. I'm a big fan of Butler, but please get the great John Carpenter in (with his music) and Kurt Russell back.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

The one with the hybrid alien and Winona Ryder? It was alright but fell apart in the last third. They really wrecked the series when they killed Ripley off in Alien 3. Having her back as a strange clone didn't really work. It would have been better for the series if James Cameron had done the third one.

And what about Alien VS Predator and its sequel?

Cynical product for the teen video game crowd. The original films had talents like Ridley Scott and John Mctiernan involved. Mctiernan should have directed a Brosnan Bond. They must like each other in real life after doing Nomads and Thomas Crown.

The fourth Alien film was quite good. I liked the start, and the bit where they had to evacuate the ship when the aliena got loose. But they had taken the story and the Ripley character in the wrong direction.
Alien Vs Predator was fun, but another waste of the Alien and Predator characters - just as Casino Royale was a waste of the Bond character!

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7599824.stmGhostbusters 3 'in development' Actor Murray starred in Ghostbusters, released in 1984, and its sequel Two writers from the US version of The Office have been recruited to write a third instalment of Ghostbusters, according to trade newspaper Variety. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky's hiring is seen as a sure sign the long-mooted comedy will finally be made. Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel saw Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as bumbling scientists who rid New York of paranormal threats. It is hoped the new film will reunite the original cast. Columbia Pictures has declined to comment on whether a third Ghostbusters was in development, Variety reported. Computer game But director John Landis, who worked with Aykroyd on The Blues Brothers and Trading Places, has said the film would definitely be made. "I'm not involved but I know it's happening," he told the BBC News website at the Venice Film Festival. Eisenberg and Stupnitsky recently collaborated with Ramis on the script for his new film Year One. Last year the original Ghostbusters cast signed up to lend their faces and voices to a computer game based on the hit film series. The game's storyline was being written by stars Aykroyd (Ray Stantz) and Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler), who also scripted the first two films. But the game's future was thrown into doubt when publisher Activision announced it would not be releasing the finished product. Developers Vivendi insisted the game had not been cancelled, and that it would be published by another company.

What about Jaws 5 with Richard Dreyfus returning as Hooper?

I think the Jaws franchise sank and lost its bite a long time ago. That 3-D one was awful and Jaws 2 wasn't anything special.

I blanked it from my memory. I think the brain filters out terrible things but remembers nice things. It's why I can't remember much of Casino Royale.

I haven't seen Jaws: The Revenge, but that movie seems to be very laughable, especially the title.
