Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan revealed this week that that he has never watched Daniel Craig as 007.
“I haven’t seen Daniel in the role. I tried watching [Casino Royale] on an airplane,” he says. “I thought 37,000 feet was a good distance to watch it from and it broke down right at the beginning. The attendant came and changed it and it broke down a second time, so I figured ‘OK. The Gods must be saying something . . .’ ]
“So I never went near it! I just thought, ‘let sleeping dogs lie.’ I got the Academy screener for the last one [Quantum of Solace] and I turned it on for my boys and I left them to it. I didn’t go near it.”

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

It seems that Pierce is still scarred by EON dumping him as Bond.

An understandable and diplomatic response. Roger always used to say he'd never seen the Dalton films so he wouldn't have to give a subjective opinion on them.

The Quantum of Solace Academy screener? ;D Special effects or something surely. With Eon you never know though. I'm not surprised Pierce isn't bothered about James Bond now. They didn't deal with the end of his tenure very well at all. I wish I hadn't seen the last Bond film too.

Perhaps doing a regular gritty action blockbuster would cheer him up.

blog.taragana.com/e/2010/01/27/brosnan-couldnt-digest-craig-as-bond-84829/LONDON - Former 007 star Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he was disappointed at being replaced by Daniel Craig to play secret agent James Bond in the super spy franchise. Brosnan was shocked in 2004 when producers informed him he would be replaced by Craig, reports imdb.com. “It was disappointing. It was surprising. And I accepted the knowledge after 24 hours of being in shock,” he said. He’s never even managed to watch Craig play the super spy in “Quantum of Solace”. “I got the Academy screener (preview DVD) for ‘Quantum of Solace’, turned it on for my boys and left them to it. I didn’t go near it. I tried watching it on an aeroplane, but the DVD broke down. The attendant came and changed it and it broke down a second time so I figured, ‘OK, the gods must be saying something.’ So I never went near it. I just thought, ‘Let sleeping dogs lie’,” he said.

The Quantum of Solace Academy screener? ;D Special effects or something surely. The special effects in QO were ghastly The Bonds are always polite about the others: I bet they are either indifferent or insulting in private.

To be honest the special effects in DAD and QOS were nothing to write home about. Along way from the quaity of the oscar nominated 'Moonraker'.

You can't blame former Bonds for not watching a new Bond movie. During their tenures, they have had to live their life being known as James Bond. Everything they do in their professional and private life will be watched. When they hang up their holsters they must want a break from all things Bond.

He's doing the Thomas Crown sequel. That's pretty Bondish.

Pierce needs an ultimate gritty action blockbuster. TC 2 wouldn't be much of a hit.

It must be annoying for Brosnan as he was loved and praised as Bond. He was sacked several years after making his last one - his Bond was cut off in his prime.
Connery and Moore made more than enough, and Tim didn't really mind drifting away. Was Lazenby sacked or did he walk away? I think he walked away.
Brosnan was ready to make another and everyone wanted him too. But he was sacked. So he is right if he is the bitterest Bond - although I don't think he is bitter as he has a life.

Pierce deserves another action movie (if not Bond) and this time a gritty one.
