I thought I would start a thread to discuss TV programmes.
Did anyone watch the finale of Lost? It was ok but a slight letdown with a trick ending.

Lost was still entertaining in the last series, but I would have done things differently in the last season to provide a more fan friendly conclusion.

I enjoyed the new BBC Sherlock Holmes program. It's called Sherlock and is set in the present day.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

There was a contemporary Sherlock Holmes update back in the '40s.

There was a contemporary Sherlock Holmes update back in the '40s. That's true. They had Basil Rathbone battling Nazis. I understand why they did it at the time but I prefer the Victorian setting.

I understand why they did it at the time but I prefer the Victorian setting. And we have one with Robert Downey, Jr.

Rathbone did two films set in the Victorian era, then three where he battled Nazis. The rest of his films were something of a middle ground: They were still set in modern times, but often portrayed in a manner that could've been any time period (ie. foggy marshes in Canada; old castle in Scotland; etc.)

I have not watched the Basil films for a while. I do like them because Rathbone was a great Sherlock Holmes. The wartime proganda ones were fun too. Nigel Bruce's Watson is often criticised for being too much of a buffoon but he was fun too.
I can tolerate almost any version of Sherlock Holmes because there have been so many different versions.

I liked Robert Stephens in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes and Peter Cushing was a great Holmes too.

Would you tolerate a Fat Seagal version of Sherlock? ;D

Jeremy Brett was the best Holmes.

What do you think of Downey Jr. as Sherlock?
