You have to factor in the attraction of being the 'new' and 'latest'. We live in a world increasingly dominated by trends and fads and this carries over into something as trivial as an actor in a studio franchise. Once Craig became Bond everyone scrambled to jump onboard and diss Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan was suddenly the old model. He was the past. People have a tendancy to believe that the latest thing is the best. If they ever make a James Bond film with a new actor then he will be the newest and latest model. Craig will be the past and judged in a more realistic and detatched way. If I had a James Bond magazine to sell I'd be telling everyone that Daniel Craig was better than Sean Connery!
