Is there any chance that Mamma Mia will take the top spot at the box office this July? Brosnan deserves this, and he hasn't had a non-Bond movie that takes the top spot since Mrs. Doubtfire.

Not if they stick to that July 18th release date. The two worst films to open against this summer are going to be Indy IV and The Dark Knight. Mamma Mia is going up against the latter. However, this is obviously a deliberate attempt at counter-programming, since Batman's audience isn't likely to go see MM anyway. It's also a very popular musical. So if they do a good job with the adaptation, this could be a nice hit for Brosnan. I imagine the studio is hoping it will be this year's "Hairspray". Personally, I'm wishing him luck with the Thomas Crown sequel. I'm surprised he hasn't done one sooner, since that could've been a nice little franchise for him. Now that the strike has caused some minor trouble for Summer 2009, Brosnan could see back-to-back summer releases with these two films. It would've been interesting if Crown had been readied sooner, and available to go up against Bond this November. I don't expect Crown would've been able to overcome Bond's marketing campaign, but with a lower budget/expectations- it wouldn't have needed to. And I'm sure the press would've loved to have had that kind of showdown to write about- potentially a repeat of the epic Connery-Moore battle of 1983! ;D Then again...maybe I give Craig a little too much credit with that last remark.

If not this, I hope Brosnan does more movies that would have bigger chances of getting Oscar nominations.

For someone who is often portrayed as a limited actor, Brosnan has had a long and varied career. I heard that Brosnan was not allowed to wear a tuxedo for his other films while he was Bond, which is why he did not in Thomas Crown.

I thought Brosnan was surprisingly good in The Matador and Seraphim Falls. Ironically, the latter gave him the opportunity to be a pretty tough asskicker- a quality he's now criticized for lacking as 007.
I think the "no tuxedo" thing stems from Cubby's disapproval of the Bond parody that Moore did in The Cannonball Run.

I'm sure I watched a documentary on the movie industry which said that, because of his Bond contract, Pierce was allowed to produce a handful of his own movies.

What's the news on Thomas Crown? They should do that film and make it more like a 007 flick.

I thought Pierce would've been a good choice as Iron Man, especially since Tony Stark is supposed to be such a ladies man. Was he ever seriously considered for the role, or was it simply a fan rumor?
(Not to take anything away from Robert Downey- who I hear is very good in the new film.)

Was he considered for the latest Iron Man movie, or in the past? His name was tossed around quite a bit when the latest film was getting underway- mainly among fanboys. This was also when Bond 22 was still expected to debut against Iron Man, causing many to point out how ironic Brosnan's casting would be. I don't know if he was seriously considered by the director, though.

How about Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four? Brosnan would have been a great choice for that...if they hadn't gone for a young cast and an MTV style film.
