Why are DN, FRWL and GF so low on your list FROSTY? It probably LOOKS worse, than it actually is I have nothing against those movies at all, they all score well: GF ***** FRWL **** DN **** (Out of 5 stars) From AVTAK downwards on the list, is where they start scoring LESS than 4 stars I think my rankings probably favour the more Action/Tongue-In-Cheek/Outlandish/Explosive types of films - just personal taste, based on basic entertainment value to me (nothing scientific! )

I should have taken that at face value. Comedy Bond just isn't my bag, I like Thriller Bond.

Is Moore your favourite Bond actor seeing that your top 3 are all RM movies? Also with FYEO being number 3 in your list do you enjoy all style of Bond films?

Is Moore your favourite Bond actor seeing that your top 3 are all RM movies? Also with FYEO being number 3 in your list do you enjoy all style of Bond films? Yes, Roger is my favourite Bond I consider TSWLM/MR/FYEO as definately the pinnacle of his Bond years Whereas I do enjoy the Lewis Gilbert -type thrills, I find FYEO to be a terrific, all-out, action/suspense movie! That film was a very clever sleight-of-hand by the producers , they seem to throw-in just about every type of chase, vehicle, and dangerous situation, that Bond could possibly get himself into, and you're so caught up in everything that's going on, in this taught thriller, that the audience's eye is taken off the ball, that they've come back down to earth, and there's no Ken Adam stuff etc. in the film - but who cares!, I was on the edge of my seat throughout! That's the way to do it, if you've got to change direction a bit, you've really got to come out with some punch, to compensate for things I'd group TMWTGG and OP into my second favourite Moore category, and describe them as: "Exotic, Fun, Romps!" The third category would be the: "Darker" Moore films - LALD and AVTAK (a less appealing category to me - slightly out-of-step with Roger's interpretation of the character), LALD is a classic though, and has got some great stuff in it: The Bus, Crocodiles/Alligators, Speedboats, Kananga's face-peeling and exploding!! etc., but I've never been a big fan of AVTAK - I found some of the killing in it, a bit disturbing as a kid (especially the Russian Spy getting chopped-up! - Roger himself, never liked that stuff either), OP WOULD have been a much better film for him to end on, as he would have been seen at the end, sailing off into the sunset, with a former, early Bond-Girl of his, Maud Adams, it would have made a very neat and tidy end to things, everything having come full-circle! ;D

Rogers memoirs say he was ready to quit after O. Then Cubby Brocoli rang him asking he to star in the next one. After two Bond movies in 1983 maybe it was time for a 4 year break and a new actor in 1987.

I've never thought about a hiatus between OP and TLD before? , given though UA's troubles during that era (and MGM weren't exactly money-makers themselves, during the 70's), there wouldn't have ever been a gap in what then started to feel like a "Bond Production Line"! That's always one thing I hate, when studios HAVE to make certain sequels, no matter what - MGM/UA ran the PINK PANTHER Series into the ground, soon afterwards I'll take QUALITY over QUANTITY, every time!

Cubby was in the routine of making one every two years. I think he loved it too, so would not have liked a four year break. Wilson and Broccoli do not love it as much as Cubby and are more inclined to take a break.
Frosty, how come GoldenEye is last? Is it a bit flat?

Wilson and Broccoli do not love it as much as Cubby and are more inclined to take a break. Cubby was also more willing to stick to tradition. He knew they had a winning formula, and didn't feel a need to re-invent the wheel every time out. But Wilson and Broccoli almost act like they are embarrassed to still be making James Bond movies. They want a new franchise, but aren't good enough filmmakers to pull it off. So every film since they took over has basically gone in a different direction.

Frosty, how come GoldenEye is last? Is it a bit flat? "flat" is probably a good word to describe it for me I feel it tries far too hard to be such films as FRWL - which it's doomed to failure at achieving, and comes across instead, as a bit of a corny-feeling, homage, it's loud action, and big bases, don't really fit with it's FRWL-isms, the plot/script is rather baffling in places - and the least said about the music score, the better!! Pierce was BRILLIANT though!! ;D (sorry mate!, if this is one of your favourites - no offence! ) And then at the actual bottom of the list, is QOS - oooooooh!, it ain't pretty!! ............. (*shudder*)

(*shudder*) It's not my favourite. GoldenEye is inoffensive, I just have never seen anyone place it at the bottom of the pile before. I have a theory about GoldenEye. To show their support for Daniel Craig his fans had to attack Brosnan's films. But, GoldenEye was directed by Martin Campbell and therefore could not be criticised. So in conclusion, GoldenEye has to be supported by certain fans.
