www.showbizspy.com/article/189759/quentin-tarantino-daniel-craig-shouldnt-be-james-bond.htmlQuentin Tarantino: ‘Daniel Craig Shouldn’t Be James Bond’Jul 27 2009 Daniel Craig wouldn’t be playing James Bond — if director Quentin Tarantino had his way. The eccentric movie maker said he would like to have directed Casino Royale — but with Pierce Brosnan as the suave British spy. “The reason they did Casino Royale all comes down to me,” Quentin said. “I made it a point, I said I wanted to do Casino Royale. They were already on record as saying the movie was unfilmable but then after I said it and talked about it for a little bit — then the big thing on all the internets was that that was what all the fans wanted to see and so that’s when they said, ‘Oh, maybe it’s not so un-filmable.’ “Actually if I had done the film, I wouldn’t have done it with Daniel Craig, I would have done it with Pierce Brosnan.”

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

What does Quentin thinks of DC? I saw the interview. He was asked if he'd like to do a Bond film and he said yes and added that he'd wanted to make Casino Royale way before Eon announced it. Then he said he would have made it with Brosnan instead of Craig but that was as far as it went on this topic. For what he had in mind he obviously needed a more traditional Bond actor.

Tarantino should make a spy movie with Brosnan using some of his Casino Royale ideas.

Well I'm sure that it would'nt have been an origin Bond story. Brosnan was too old for that. Brosnan would have looked stupid running around building sites as well, or falling for wet blanket Vesper. He would have wanted a DAD esq budget so he could crank up the action.
Tarentino is a great innovative director. I'm sure he would have put a fresh spin on Bond but kept all the traditional elements in we love. Just like Speilberg, an opportunity missed. But's it's not too late, maybe he can save the DC era. Can't he ?

He would have wanted a DAD esq budget so he could crank up the action. Pierce said that he wanted to do Bond, similar to Connery's in terms of grittiness. NO WAY JOSE!!!!!!!! DC era doesn't deserve to be saved. If I were Quentin, I would do Michael Jackson projects instead or at least do another blockbuster action movie with Pierce as the lead actor.

Taratino's chances of ever doing Bond must be zero now after his DC comment anyway. I'm sure he'll manage to survive the crushing blow of never working with those great visionary pioneers over at Eon.

What a stupid statement ;D. everyone knew, that EON wanted to make Casino Royale long time ago before Quentin ever make a movies.

Michael G Wilson said they had no interest in Casino Royale in a 1999 interview that used to be the now defunct 007Forever site. He said you couldn't make a modern film out of the book.

It would have been wonderful if Pierce Brosnon had done CR, slightly different from Craig, but never the less a great movie!

With Tarentino & Brosnan on board, other big stars may have been tempted. Angelina Jolie perhaps. Eon said they did not want big stars for Craigs CR as it would have overshadowed him. That would'nt have been the case with Brosnan.

That would'nt have been the case with Brosnan. well, Casino Royale did not need big star anyway, and still one of the best Jame bond movies! i think the "overshadowed thing" is not the problem. when filming On her Majesty's Secret Service they put Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas who where established actor compare to Lazenby. i think the problem, were the actress fit with the EON direction or not? (btw sorry my english)

QT is too good to be working for Barbara and Michael. Even if they'd wanted him he would have fallen out with them. Plus, he likes to score his own films and hates composers.
