Was a script written for a 5th Pierce Brosnan film, or was he fired before they made specific plans?

I don't know really to be honest. They fired him on the phone in about 2004 I think. The reasoning was that they wanted to cast a young actor to play a rookie Bond on his first mission...and then hire craggy old Daniel Craig. Makes perfect sense...not.

I don't believe they ever got as far as a script for a new Brosnan film. I think they'd decided to do another with him and changed their minds when they tied CR into MIchael G Wilson's origin film - which incidently I hope he might make one day with a YOUNG Bond.

I'm sure Barbara hated him and decided to ditch him in 2003 and get her own man in.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Would Pierce's 5th film be best released in 2004 or 2005?

There are lots of rumours and counter rumours. What is true is that Pierce said at the 2002 Bond Bafta tribute that he had been asked to do a fifth. He also said he had agreed.

There were further rumours in 2004 that Brosnan had been sacked/resigned. These were tragically confirmed in 2005. Eon said Brosnan wanted a Tom Cruise esq fee. This I don't believe.

Brosnan had fufilled his contract he signed when Cubby was alive. BB simply didn't like Brosnan, preferring Sean Bean in 1995.

BB & MJW dreamed up the rookie Bond idea to justify the removal of Brosnan. They couldn't say Brosnan was too old or unpopular to make a FYEO/O type fifth.

I doubt a script would have been written until Craig signed up.

What year would Pierce's 5th film be best released in? 2004 or 2005?

Don't see why it couldn't have been either of those years. However all the mucking about over getting rid of Pierce and finding a new Bond meant a delay of at least a year.

Releasing in 2005 would mean a 10 year anniversary of Pierce's debut. You don't think people would celebrate this milestone, would they?

I went to see DAD in 2002 at a special charity screening, with a introduction buy a co producer and they talked about the next film, there was talk about who would play Bond back then and whenever it would be made.

I think Brosnan's last film would have most likely been in 2005 if they hadn't decided to reboot the series.
