Which Bond made the best non-Bond film?
Performance would have to come into it. So for example Indiana Jones 3 is one of the best films, but Sean wasn't as good in as other Bonds in other films.
I'd have to say Roger in The Man Who Haunted Himself.

Best non-Bond film featuring a Bond actor? Off the top of my head; The Untouchables, Flash Gordon, The Man Who Haunted Himself, The Rocketeer, and The Long Good Friday.

Hello,
I thought Sean Connery was superb in "The Untouchables". (He did win an Oscar for his performance).
I also thought Timothy Dalton was fantastic playing a priest in "Possesed"...the true story on which "The Exorcist" is based.
Kudos to Pierce Brosnan who shed his "Bond image" with "The Matador"...a dark comedy, very funny!
Take Care!

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

The Tailer Of Panama is a good one from Pierce.

I haven't seen Possesed or Panama with Pierce yet. I'll have to have a look.

I liked the Moore films of the 70's, 'Shout at the Devil', 'The Sea Wolves' and 'Escape to Athena' etc. Was never going to win any awards but it looks like he had fun making them.

I love the Moore film where he plays Major Ffoulkes with Anthony Perkins as the villian.

I think Connery has had the most interesting post-Bond career. He worked with some pretty interesting directors in the 70's, and enjoyed an impressive comeback in the late 80's/early 90's.
Brosnan entered the role with a fairly terrible resume, but managed to capitalize on Bond to great effect. He made better spy films than EON during his tenure, and was a far more interesting actor by the time he exited the role. Seraphim Falls and The Matador were surprisingly good films, and it's a shame that EON never tried to challenge him as Bond.

I think being Bond meant everything to Moore and Brosnan. It was (or is) more of a mixed blessing for the others.

Roger Moore seems to be the only ex-Bond actor more than happy to discuss his time in the series. Brosnan could have settled into a similar role but the fiasco over his aborted fifth film wrecked that. Brosnan saved the series but doesn't seem to get much credit for that now.

Brosnan loved Bond, as it rescued him from TV films. Connery was always trying to escape Bond, and I think he made some great films and he is a bit of an icon. Roger loved being Bond - and I thought Bed and Breakfast was great.

I loved his approach. He seemed to approach Bond like Shakespeare and had great respect for the source material. Roger on the other hand.......

Dalton was splendid as the Nazi villian in The Rocketeer.
