I think Alec is right that like Desmond, she is impossible to replace. Moore, Connery, Maxwell, Llewelyn are simply the most iconic figures of the Bond films. Agreed Harry. It will be a truly awful day when we lose Moore and Connery. Let's hope they remain in good health for many more years to come.

Hello, I am also very, very saddened to hear of the passing of Lois Maxwell. She was such an integral part of the James Bond movies...she had wonderful, great chemistry with all the Bonds she starred with, Sir Sean Connery, Sir Roger Moore and even George Lazenby. In the late 80's when Roger Moore retired and gave way to Timothy Dalton, it was very evident that the Miss Moneypenny role wasn't that easy to re-cast. I found Lois Maxwell's replacement Caroline Bliss to be rather bland. Her passing is a loss that ranks right up there with Desmond Llewelyn...two integral characters whose places in James Bond history are firmly cemented, and their performances will live on forever. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and fans...whom I'm sure she has lots of! Take Care! A fine tribute. I think you summed it up perfectly.

Sad news indeed. Sir Rog spoke very warmly about her and she will be missed.

With Judi Dench in the role I wish they'd get rid of M as well. Ridiculous recasting of Dame Judi in CR.

I'm amazed sometimes when I read the other forums. They seem to dislike Q, Moneypenny, the gunbarrel, gadgets, humour, a handsome Bond. These are the staples of a James Bond film aren't they? They are for me Jake. It annoys me when so called fans criticize the cinematic Bond, especially the Moore and Brosnan years. If it wasn't for Cubby, the Bond phenomenon would not be what it is. Take note Babs.

I do what I can to keep his magic alive and spread the word. Have you seen Layer Cake yet? Believe it or not, I have seen practically every film or television drama Craig has ever been in one way or another...except for Layer Cake. Is it any good? According to Babs, that was the film that got him Bond. My favourite Craig film? Tomb Raider. He's hardly in it. Angelina Jolie on the other hand, is in almost every scene. Layer Cake proved one thing. Mathew Vaughan should stick to producing.

On UK digital teletext they are saying that Australian actress Abbie Cornish is up for the role of a Bond girl in Bond 22. She looks good.

ITV1 have been showing them all on Saturday afternoons. They missed out FRWL again. Is it down to ratings or does the BBC have rights to that one Bond film?

Brosnan week on ITV2 next week. All 4 PB films will be shown. ITV run the PB films out a lot. Even though I have the DVDs I can never resist a Bond film on television. Me too.

This thread on the Digitalspy webpage is quite interesting. www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=625463&page=3They are suggesting that ITV loaned the BBC the rights to show just this film. As far as I know, ITV have UK terrestrial rights to all the Eon Bonds. I'm not sure they have the rights to the 2006 Casino Royale though. Hello, Did anyone read some of the replies on the Bond / Digital Spy / BBC thread? How incredibly rude and insulting they are to one another!!! I just want to say how very proud I am to be a part of the "Alternative007" Forum. Why? We treat each other with kindness and respect...I feel close to all of you and that you are all good friends. Three cheers to each of our moderators...they deserve a huge amount of credit!!! Alec: "Closing time James...last call!" Bond: "Buy me a pint!" (Let's make sure we buy our moderators a pint at last call!) Take Care! Thanks for the nice comment. It wasn't needed, but is very much appreciated. I agree that our 'small' yet very friendly group are all respectful towards each others opinions which is how it should be. Glad you enjoy the forum Alec and hope you stay around for a long time.

They have a Bond film on the BBC tonight. That's very rare given ITV's stranglehold on Bond films. Be fun to see an uncut (hopefully) and widescreen Bond on British television for a change. That is quite surprising. Does anyone know if the BBC have shown other Bond films?

The British Daily Express has stated that Daniel Craig is getting a bumper pay rise for Bond 22 and 23, so I presume he is making a 3rd. He always has the low budget low paid work available, including TV. I'm not sure he has any great roles avalible. Those go to other actors, surely. He has had a few bit parts in big Hollywood films. Maybe he will get some big roles off of Bond. Due to the commercial success of CR it's probably justified.

Welcome aboard Skywalker. Fancy running into you here. It's a small world. Glad to be aboard James. It's a great, well run site that deserves a forum.
