Thought Pierce could play it tough very well. I never read any criticism at the time. Only since 2006 when people defend DC do they claim Pierce could'nt or never played it tough.
His fight scenes seemed pretty convincing to me. He was also tall and naturally lean and well built. I would'nt like to be up against him.
Again I did'nt read any criticism of Pierce's witty, charming and sophisicated Bond at the time. Either from fans or the media. The box office seemed to like him as well.
You obviously prefer QOS to Pierce's Bond's. I don't. We'll have to agree to differ on that.

How long have the razzies been going ?
Maybe we should have our Bond razzie thread. Take a bow Roger & Sean for sleep walking through T & AVTAK, George for that haircut in OHMSS and the CGI man in DAD. Take a bow Mr Craig for having the most monotone voice of all the Bonds and let's not forget Britt Eckland for being the most annoying Bond girl.

Well the fact is that he couldn't play it tough . even Brosnan himself want his Bond more grittier, and the producer didn't want that, because Brosnan can't deliver it.
;D
so the nomination from the razzies award is made in 2006??? have you see the link, i posted earlier? you didn't read, or didn't want to read?
yeah i prefer CRAIG's Bond than preety boy's BOND (Brosnan's Bond) ;D

I did read it. Good to see big stars at the time like Brosnan, Connery, Zeta Jones, Will Smith & Kenneth Branagh getting nominations. Seems like reputations count for nothing with the Razzies, if you've made a dud, it gets nominated.
Pierce's nomination was for worst screen couple. Must admit Denise Richards is one of the worst Bond girls and it's not surprising she got a second Razzie nomination for worst actress.

Agree with you there Chuck, Brosnan is a 'pretty boy'. That always helps if your trying to woo the ladies.

It's easier for a handsome and suave man to play it tough than it is for an actor like Craig to play handsome and suave.

One of the biggest complaints when DC became Bond was that he was'nt handome enough. Even Craig himself admitted he was'nt the best looking actor to play Bond. Everyone I know, men and women say they do not think DC is handsome. Barbara Brocoli's big ploy to change this was the swimming trunk scene in CR, even then the only thing my sister said she noticed was DC's big ears.

Really any qualified actor can either play a tough guy or smooth operator. Actors are being paid a wage and will basically do what the director tells them to do. Clooney played it tough in 'The Peacemaker' and smooth in 'Oceans 11'. De caprio played in smooth in 'Catch Me if you Can' and tough in 'Blood Diamond. However playing a character like James Bond, you do need to be extra smooth and debonair. Being handsome also helps.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Not only that he's gritty, he buries the Bond attitude and image COMPLETELY. That wasn't the first time though. The Tailor of Panama proves it. If you really think he's that bad, watch Evelyn.

Clooney played it tough in 'The Peacemaker' and smooth in 'Oceans 11'. Interestingly, Clooney was rumored to replace Pierce as Bond back earlier this decade. This, I thought, is very laughable.

'The Forth Protocol saw Brosnan kill several people in cold blood. He did'nt smile or crack a one liner in the whole film. You can't get any tougher than that.

However playing a character like James Bond, you do need to be extra smooth and debonair. Being handsome also helps. And don't forget the tougher side. It's half and half. One half is the smoother side, and the other half is the tougher side. After seeing BB, I thought Christian Bale could handle this.
